Fixed price deal tariff being increased

If it's fixed rates they can only increase the DD if you are using more electric/gas than the DD payment the rates stay the same, get an old bill and compare it against the new bill. The company would be in breach of contract if the increase any kWh or daily charge rates on the bill.worrywart_3 said:🤔 you sure you were on a fix what was the name of the tarrif you were on ?Or is it increasing the amount because your using more than anticipated? Ie your direct debit is increasing rarther than the unit rates?Someone please tell me what money is1 -
This is exactly what I said in my post earlier today "It's a breach of contract" if only a couple of people got the fixed term through a software error then maybe they would honour the contracts but as it seems there are many they might be trying to renege on the deal as they will be losing money with every customer on the July 2021 V1 deal.Krzysj said:Hello all! Exactly the same issue here with the same tariff. Brother helped my dad switch to fixed tariff (brother works in industry and knows what he’s doing). Welcome pack (contract info) states fixed tariff which I checked at the time. This week price increase notification. I’m afraid this is breach of contract imo and have advised octopus they must honour this pricing until Sep 2023. I’ll Pursue to ombudsman otherwise.
the pre contract info isn’t available any more so it’s our word vs theirs. But the fact the welcome pack says fixed - is written down - and you can’t argue with that.Someone please tell me what money is1 -
The issue that could rise should they be able to do this is how many other suppliers will suddenly realise their "fixed" deals were a "cap tracking variable tariff" all along? Any legal way to renege on a fixed tariff must surely be looked into by lawyers for the energy companies lest they befall the fate of Avro, Symbio, Pure Planet et al?wild666 said:

the pre contract info isn’t available any more so it’s our word vs theirs. But the fact the welcome pack says fixed - is written down - and you can’t argue with that. These tariffs are publicly published along with their rates and terms, the suppliers can't just change their minds later. What is happening here is that people who received incorrect details after changing to the contract are claiming that these incorrect terms should apply, not the original published tariff information. That is a very long distance from what you are suggesting...Some of those people will have a valid complaint if they didn't see the published tariff details and were not advised of them during a phone call to switch to the tariff, but again that is very different from suggesting that suppliers could somehow change their minds about a tariff that had already been published. Also worth considering that in general, the Ombudsman process will aim to place the customer in the same position as if a mistake had not been made, it will not generally seek to force a supplier to honour a mistake. So the response reported so far by those who have engaged with Octopus seems in line with what I would expect as a result of a complaint to the Ombudsman (might also get a token gesture from the Ombudsman of £30-50 compensation)

This has happened to me too and I'm just gathering evidence to submit a formal complaint - I was wondering where you found this? I can't find anything similar on my account.lensgirl1234 said:I did it online. My online tariff looks exactly like that.
Also, I received this on 13th August after the switch took place
Also, was anyone else confused when they found out their tariff was called "Price Promise"? I was sure I signed up for Octopusfixed and I emailed at the time to try and figure out what had happened, it's as if I signed up to one tariff and they changed it. Either way, the only other two options at the time were Super Green and Flexible...1 -
Since this has floated to the top again, here is the current tariff information for Eastern region...
In line with the original advertised formula for the tariff, the prices have recently been updated for the 1st April changes.1
