Turning right across white lines.

That's incorrect, as rule 130 of the HC clearly states.Norman_Castle said:You can cross the lines to enter or exit the pub. You cannot cross them if you are continuing along the road. The lines are there to separate traffic lanes, nothing else.
You're correct their sole purpose is to separate traffic, but clearly being able to cross in front of traffic breaks that separation and therefore is unlawful.0 -
That is incorrect as they are not simply solid double white lines, but chevrons:Norman_Castle said:You can cross the lines to enter or exit the pub. You cannot cross them if you are continuing along the road. The lines are there to separate traffic lanes, nothing else.- If the area is marked with chevrons and bordered by solid white lines you MUST NOT enter it except in an emergency.

Apart from the errors already pointed out, the lines also indicate that parking is prohibited.Norman_Castle said:You can cross the lines to enter or exit the pub. You cannot cross them if you are continuing along the road. The lines are there to separate traffic lanes, nothing else.0 -
If it were the white lines only you could cross them to turn into the pub, as this is allowed. However, there is a middle area indicated with the diagonal lines, which, because it is surrounded by solid white lines, you can only enter in an emergency, so you would have to perform a U-turn at the roundabout to avoid being in breach of the law.

Thats right. I don't drive too well when I'm still in bed.

You are mixing up chevrons and hatching. In this case it is hatching. You are allowed to turn right across hatching.

Sorry but this is incorrect. The use of the term chevron or hatching is synonymous in this example.unforeseen said:You are mixing up chevrons and hatching. In this case it is hatching. You are allowed to turn right across hatching.

Wrong. The HC (and indeed the law) refers to "Areas of white diagonal stripes OR chevrons painted on the road"unforeseen said:You are mixing up chevrons and hatching. In this case it is hatching. You are allowed to turn right across hatching.

At least https://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40935 doesn't stick to the HC but actually looks at the legislation.0

I don't see anything in that thread that contradicts HCs rule 130.unforeseen said:At least https://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40935 doesn't stick to the HC but actually looks at the legislation.1
