  • Afternoon Everybody,

Well I had three more sales yesterday on ebay so another £20 paid of the c/c this morning/  So the Barclays total is now at £2335.  Long way to go to get this to 0 before the end of the year but I am going to have a go to get it down as much as possible.    I was thinking if anybody gives me money this year for Christmas it is coming off this c/c as it will save a fortune if the interest charges kick in.

I also have £500 in premium bonds so I have decided to keep it were it is until the second week in December you never know I may win something.  Then take it out and pay it from this amount, which will be a big chuck of it.  I really want to get shot of one of the c/c making it a total of three left.

Food is going great and I feel in control of the food now, were as I never have in the past , so I feel this is going to save me a lot of money in the months to come.

MvTMM  -  Thank you for your help.  As soon as I have done something with all the rings I will let you know what has happened.  In a few weeks I am going out for the day with a friend and the place we are going has a lot of small jewellers so I am going to call into a few to see what they say.  Fingers crossed.    I do have a Lidl close by, so I am going to see if I can see those boxes you talked about.  I did my dads car insurance for him last week and they have sent a £20 Lidl voucher which he has given to me to use for helping him sort it out.  So I am going to make that go as far as I possibly can.

Back to it now, have a lovely day everybody.  Going to get my thinking cap on to see how I can raise £2335 to pay of C/C 1 by the end of December.  Any ideas would be welcome.

Good luck with selling the gold rings.  Trying the small jewellers is a good idea.  Apparently gold prices are going up according to my local jeweller.  Just carry on with the selling to try and knock as much off the Barclays card as possible.

    Good morning everybody,

Another day another dollar as they say.

savingholmes  -  Your idea is great.  I actually did it about two weeks ago.  I had a Nat West Select account and if I changed to a reward account they paid you £150.  It costs £2 a month for the reward account but you get £5 back a month with the way the rewards are set up.  So at the end of the year you gain £36.  I have not had the £150 yet but it is on its way.  I have just noticed on the rewards if I spend £30 or more on groceries at Morrisons and pay with my bank card I get 5% back, so Morrisons it is for the weekly shop.  As everybody says every little helps.

enthusiasticsaver  -  I am going to try the local jewellers and see what happens.  I still have lots of stuff in the loft to get on ebay and just keep chipping away at it.  That total is coming down and I love a challenge.  So this month I am trying not to spend if I do not have to.  Any surplus at the end of the month will go off the barclays c/c.

So paid my Nat West c/c this morning, balance now is £1050.  I would love to pay off this first so it is one less account but I know it does not make sense as it is on a 0% rate.

Total paid up to now this month is £110.    My total paid last month was £955 which I was totally made up with.  I would love to do that again this month.

Food is going well and I am keeping a check on it and it will be saving me a fortune.

I just do not know were I can make any more savings, as the gas and electric has been done, recently changed my mobile and broadband contracts to cheaper ones.  We are on a water meter so that is cheaper than the normal standing charge.  Insurances on the car and house have been renewed.  So I dont think there is anything else.  I have started really looking at the way I use the car and if possible use my bike or walk when I can as this reduces the petrol cost per month.

Any ideas would be appreciated.  Take care everybody and have a great Friday.

Someone put some links on my diary - of life insurances you could take out and get amazon vouchers... worth a look - can then cancel the cheap policy once paid out. Helifx or ll0yds if you are a current customer

  • Good morning fine people out there,

I have had such a busy weekend and work was crazy yesterday.

So just a quick update.  Another couple of sales on ebay over the weekend so I have paid off another £35 of the C/C, which is great and that Barclays total keeps coming down.

    Jobs for this week are:

List seven things on ebay - which is achievable.

Food - Use as much as possible out of the cupboards and freezer and buy as little as possible.

Batch Cook  -  Batch cook two different meals

Start to look for more income streams with new products for my business.

savingholmes  -  thank you so much for your ideas.  I am going to have a look at them tonight.  Last time I did something like that I bulk purchased all items for the house like toilet roll, fabric conditioner, laundry liquid.  It lasted a long time and save so much money on a week by week basis.  So tonight that is my mission to go and find a few of these deals and take them up.  When the voucher comes in cancel them.  Thank you so much for your help once again.

These are so achievable and can be done so easy.

Have a lovely day everybody and talk soon.

Morning,  Well my account has changed over and everything is fine.  I have started generating the rewards and have got over £8 back in less than a month so it was worth changing it over.  I should receive the £150 reward in January which will come in handy.

A quick update.  Three more sales on ebay so £15 paid to c/c.  Up to now this month I have paid £360 bringing the total down to £20485.  The Barclaycard total that I am so desperate to get to 0 before the 0% finishes is £2085.00.  So just over a thousand pounds a month which I really do not think I am going to be able to do, but I will give it a go.

I have not been shopping at all this week so have managed to save some monty this week.

Also I emptied another box in the loft last night.  There was an old handbag in it which I no longer wanted.  Before I put it in the charity bag as it really is old I checked all the little pockets.  Guess what there was £50 in one of them.  I could not believe it when I seen the 2 £20 notes and 1 £10 note.  So I am going to go and fill the car up with petrol with it.  That will do me for the rest of the month and maybe will go into next month as well.  I was so happy.

Any way back to work.  Have a lovely day everybody .
