First time traveller in Covid Times is my understanding correct regarding requirements?

3 days in Italy at end of October (25th to 28th).
Is this right:
- Adults get the NHS covid pass
- we get a European Digital Passenger Locator Form (dPLF) for adults and get a QR code to show.
- (can/do the kids do either of the above?)
For return trip back to uk
- Take a Day 2 PCR test - within 2 days of arriving in UK. This is currently a PCR test but may change to Lateral flow by end of october. Is this adults and kids?
Feel free to correct me.

Below are the requirements today
( This is the best place to keep up to date with the ever changing rules : https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/italy/coronavirus )
To enter Italy - -( Italy’s requirements )
Proof of vaccination(NHS Covid Pass ) for Adults - not required for children when travelling with vaccinated parents.
Complete EU PLF for all of youShow evidence of a negative Covid test, taken within 48 hours before entering Italy - for all of you
Your airline may also have additional requirements .( masks etc )
Return to UK -( Italy’s requirements for flights )
Adults Proof of vaccination(NHS Covid Pass )
Children under the age of 12 are require a green pass for travel purposes. To get this they need to take a test within 48 hours of return flight
Before you return to UK -( UK requirements)
Book DAY 2 tests for all of you .Submit UK Passenger Locator Forms ( 1 form for each adult - add children details to adults form )
Once back in UK - take Day 2 tests ( all of you ) can be taken as soon as you get back but must be done by Day 2.
so for all of you in total that’s 10 tests for your trip
I would also suggest that check that your travel insurance covers the whole family for you being unable to travel/ extended stay in Italy etc the event one of the party tests positive.1 -

A couple of questions:"Show evidence of a negative Covid test, taken within 48 hours before entering Italy - for all of you" - Is this a PCR test paid for at somewhere like Boots or some online provider?
Return
Children under the age of 12 are require a green pass for travel purposes - To get this they need to take a test within 48 hours of return flight - this means in Italy within 48 hours of return flight we need to track down an italian company doing PCR tests for my 9 year old. My son is 12 but not yet vaccinated? does he need to do this? I think the answer to all of this must be yes since you have totalled 10 tests but just checking.
Any advice on the cheapest companies to do these tests welcome.

Entry requirements for Italy include evidence of negative covid test which can be either PCR or antigen test, taken within 48 hours before entering Italy. You can find links to cheaper providers here:https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/how-to-find-the-cheapest-private-coronavirus-tests-for-travel/
Return Flight to UK
A “green pass”, is required to travel on flights, Proof of having been vaccinated against, or recovered from, COVID-19 in the UK will be accepted as a green pass as long as it is in the form of a verifiable digital QR code. (See ‘Demonstrating your COVID-19 status’).
If you are not vaccinated, you can obtain a green pass, valid for 48 hours by testing negative to a rapid COVID-19 test readily available from local pharmacies and test centers. The test provider will print your test results and will email you a unique code. You will then need to access the Government website (in Italian) and enter your details. Select the option ‘Utente senza tessera sanitaria’ (‘User without a health card’). You will be prompted to enter the type and number of the ID you showed when you got your test, as well as the code on your test certificate. Click ‘Ricupera certificazione’ (‘Get certificate’) to download your digital test result.
You can also use the uk. gov website to find a test provider in Italy https://find-a-professional-service-abroad.service.csd.fcdo.gov.uk/find?serviceType=covidTestProviders&readNotice=ok

Lots of other threads with people’s experiences of test providers - good and bad - worth reading before you buy.1 -
Sorry. Just to clarify. When we return to UK. There are 2 adults with NHS app (double jabbed). 2 unjabbed kids age 12 and 9. So, whilst in Italy, we need PCR tests for the two kids? Or for all four of us?0
-
My understanding, considering parents double jabbed and returning after 24th October, is all 4 of you need purchased lateral flow tests to be done before day 2 of arrival back in UK and reference numbers need to be provided on Passenger locator forms before setting off back to UK.1
-
Thanks. There is nothing that will stop us getting on the plane in Italy then as long as we have PLF completed less than 48 hours in advance with reference for 2 day lateral flow test in it. We have a transfer in Milan on the way back too if it makes any difference (don't think it does).
It's a pain that I cannot do the plf form before I go but I believe I can draft it and save and then log in on holiday to add the reference number for 2 day test.0 -
@R3dders has provided you with the UK requirements.
In additional Italy require that you have a green pass to travel on flights, I did try to explain that in post 2 & post 4 above but is probably best to read it for yourself here :

@united4ever - how was your trip , how did the testing / forms work out ? Your experience from your recent travel will be very useful for other families planning to travel to Italy soon .0
-
Sorry just seen this. It was fine.
Went to Manchester airport the night before to do drive thru antigen test with Collison £120 for four of us. Didn't need to do a test in Italy thankfully.
Ordered the 2 day test for our arrival at home in uk which worked well to be fair. Also Collison and £80.
It was as good as can be expected. I underestimated the hassle required and expense when I booked flights. As much as I enjoyed the trip it would put me off doing it again for a short trip. Got sucked in by crazy cheap Ryan air prices and the news that travel restrictions were about to be heavily relaxed which wasn't really the case.
