My average yearly used is about 14,000.
I have my dial on boiler set to 3 and also on ECO as that heats the water when I use it. Previously before having it on ECO my boiler use to fire up all the time even when not in use ie during the night?0 -
Yes thats just the volume conversation at the top of the formula.0

So i understand to get the daily use the would multiply 2 by 2.83. Correct?Yesterday's reading was 7122 hundred cubic feet. If the reading the day before was 7120 hundred cubic feet, they are using 2 hundred cubic feet a day. [See note 1]You can multiply 2 hundred cubic feet by 2.83 to give 5.66 cubic metres used in one day, then multiply that by the conversion factor of (roughly) 11 to give 62kWh used. [See note 2]Gas is billed in kWh and 62kWh, at current domestic prices, will cost around £2.50. [See note 3]Notes:
- Because a hundred cubic feet is quite a lot of gas, for personal day-to-day measurements it's worth reading the red number too - your photo shows 7122.7, so if 7120 was 7120.0 those extra 70 cubic feet make a big difference to the daily calculations.
- You can check the calculation using number from a recent bill if you want a more accurate value.
- Again, check against a recent bill for a more accurate cost.

So by these helpful calculation it would suggest 62kwh per day which still seems rather high compared to average given the use type in the home. So i still need to figure out if its the boiler or boiler settings, meter or a leak.0 -
Ultrasonic said:I suspect that just does the volume conversion but not the conversion to kWh, but as posts above show I'm not the best to comment on meters that use cubic feet! I'm fairly sure I've only ever had meters that use cubic meters metres myself.I'm writing a book on plagiarism. It wasn't my idea.2

If it is any help, I am using an average 41 per day. Current temp over 23 deg & it is on 24/7 thermostatically controlled. I cook every day usually on the top of the cooker rather than the oven which would use less. Are you sure they are not using gas fires later at night (gas fire in the bedroom?). I have a friend who won't put his central heating on, hardly ever uses gas for cooking & I am always cold there & his gas bills are more than mine because he keeps putting his gas fire on in the evening which is a total & expensive waste of space.0

A word to the wise. If a meter fault is suspected, then get it checked before a smart meter is fitted. The old meter will then go to a testing lab rather than to the local skip. As many people have found out, it is very difficult to prove a faulty meter if the old meter is not available to be tested.
