Don't know how related my question is to this thread but I just got a HUGE bill from SSE which is totally out of line with my gas usage and when I looked at the meter (which was either replaced when a gas leak was reported by a guest staying when I was not in the property) the sticker on the front has a figure filled in next to New Meter Index which is a 4100 units higher than the notation next to it for Old Meter Index.  SSE seem now be basing charges on the higher number going forward.  Any ideas what is going on??  Any help is very gratefully received as they are now assuming I owe them £2100 rather than £350.
