Confused about travel rules if flying from UK to Spain & back to UK after 4th Oct 21
The problem that I have found is that the info is scattered, with authorities only looking after their own part, unable to comment on other aspects of the 'bigger picture' of what is required as a 'total' package of hoops to jump through in what order. It requires a consolidated list / flow chart that covers all aspects of Covid changes to enable the full return trip.
Anyone seeking to travel abroad during a pandemic has to expect that there are numerous sites to check and it's unrealistic to expect that any one organisation would provide any sort of condensed summary that could be relied upon, precisely because authorities can only take responsibility their own part, although the fact that different arms of the UK government aren't joined up has been commented on before (FCDO country-specific advice versus UK admission lists managed by the Department of Transport, even before considering the devolution-related issues).
I posted this list in another thread a few months ago so the first couple are largely inapplicable now, but the point stands that there are inherently a variety of different places that anyone needs to research when travelling in current circumstances:
Are you allowed to leave your home and/or local area?
Are you allowed to leave the UK?
What does the UK government advise about your destination?
What conditions does your airline impose?
Are you allowed into the country you're planning to visit?
What testing is needed in order to be admitted?
Where best to source that prior to departure?
What conditions apply on return to the UK?
Where best to source tests, book quarantine hotels, etc?
I don't get the reason for the 2 day test anyway. Surely, the biggest risk is during the flight, so If you catch Covid during the flight would it show up on a test just after the plane lands?
No point in trying to understand the rules. We've just got to follow them.
Some people want to learn and improve ones knowledge. It's also completely your choice to remain ignorant.
