I don't get the reason for the 2 day test anyway. Surely, the biggest risk is during the flight, so If you catch Covid during the flight would it show up on a test just after the plane lands?
No point in trying to understand the rules. We've just got to follow them.
Arrogant & condescending. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to learn and understand the reasons for things rather than being ignorant. If you don't know the answer you can say 'me neither' or don't bother commenting...

Thanks - The last date mentioned in the text prior to suggesting you needing the 2 day test was 'until' the 4th!
    The key parts are

If you qualify as fully vaccinated you will have to:

    • book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test – to be taken after arrival in England
    • complete your passenger locator form – any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in England
    • take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 after you arrive in England

Under the new rules, you will not need to:

    • take a pre-departure test
    • take a day 8 COVID-19 test
    • quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days after you arrive in England
So are there no key points of things to do to get to Spain in the first place?

Thanks to help.on here managed to fly to Croatia for dental treatment. Getting the NHS certificate was a nightmare as I had tried to change gp's and had no acknowledgement. Then when I tried to download the certificate it was impossible as the GP had not done their bit. A trip to the new GP and three people helping they managed to do their bit!
Then I couldn't print it out and had to get an It person to convert it to a pdf
Then it printed and after all that nonody wanted to see it on the way!
All the Croatians wanted to see was a negative covid pass.

It's all quite simple if you follow the instructions. I'm now at Heathrow having checked in for a flight to Tenerife. It was a breeze for me but I could see other passengers struggling with having the correct paperwork.

That may be the theory but in practice there is a lot that can go wrong. On my last two flights I have been threatened with being refused boarding - on the first because I had only printed the first page of the PLF, and on the second because the QR code apparently said that I was a child.

I agree - it's quite arrogant and cocky of the superior Doshwaster. The paragraph contradicts itself (quite simple but people struggling but i'm so brilliant)!

Thanks - I did actually find this before, and it's why I asked the question, as it appeared to be missing from the alleged 'key points'.
The problem that I have found is that the info is scattered, with authorities only looking after their own part, unable to comment on other aspects of the 'bigger picture' of what is required as a 'total' package of hoops to jump through in what order.
It requires a consolidated list / flow chart that covers all aspects of Covid changes to enable the full return trip.

I am not sure anyone would want that task of keeping every countries ever changing requirements up to date in a consolidated view although some places do have links to each countries government sites
There are two parts to a return journey
    1) what is required by the country you are travelling to at the date of travel - should be checked on FCO or on the government pages for that country
    2) what is required by the UK for your return at date of travel - available on the UK government website

Many of the answers given on this thread related to the return because you mentioned 4th October changes. Different countries will change their requirements on different dates (some more frequently than others)
