iPhone - no headphones socket

  • If it is the original SE then that is not bad going. If you want a new one, just get one. The new SE2 is around the same size as my 6s and a tad larger than the SE1 in the family but far better in many ways. Probably go up to the 13 pro myself after seeing the camera in action but the Belkin adapter means I can run any lightning phone in the car that does not do bluetooth.

Apple does a comparison on its site for see where yours differs to the new.

    Just pick your flavour.

FWIW , I did post a few months ago regarding my SE.
The battery eventually got to 'critical ' stage . Then it started randomly jumping into text mode and having a mind of its own .

I had to bite the bullet and get the iPhone SE ( 2020 version ) a few months ago
I did this because I have everything Apple so to speak . It was touch and go , as I am angry at their attitude also.

The way I see it , is that this will probably be my last iPhone , as at the end of the day I can get away by using Google for bus info etc . Plus texts of course .
Yes I am very angry but not surprised about the missing headphone socket .
As we have covid , and I am currently not working due to Ill health I haven't been on many buses at all .

I have akg noise reducing phones ( not cancelling unfortunately ) which helped quite a bit towards bawling babies and annoying people on my various journeys and commutes .
The way I see it ( which may not be mse) is to buy either noise cancelling or apple headphones when I may be bussing it or going on trains more frequently .
Reason being is that Apple ( and various other companies ) are putting more effort into 'spatial sound ' and whatever next . Plus Bluetooth seems to be the way forward anyway

Having said that , I may  get the socket that would make my current headphones still be used . I do worry if the adaptor would do more harm than good to the phone ...

@zagubov I just checked the dimensions and you’re right. All of them are bigger than my current iPhone, which is disappointing. I was planning to buy the iPhone 13 mini and assumed it would be the same size as mine (or smaller) but it’s quite a bit bigger.

Have you actually seen 12/13 Mini in the flesh?. If not, I suggest your reconsider. Wrt overall dimensions, the iPhone 12/13 Mini is only slightly bigger than the iPhone SE1 but screen size is considerably bigger - 5.4 inches v 4.0 inches. I have both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Mini and use the 12 Mini far more, primarily because its much more pocket friendly and easier to use with one hand.
