My old iphone SE doesn't have a great battery life but I'd rather get a battery upgrade than change the phone. With its aux cable you could buy an adaptor that would even play into an old car's cassette player.
It runs iOS15 with no problems.
It's small enough to fit in any pocket and they don't seem to want to make any more like that, so it's a keeper.

I strongly recommend having a long think about it before buying an expensive new version.
They rely on the keep up with the joneses/ never heard of the Phoebus cartel or any other of the hydra heads of the planned obsolescence section of the consumer market.
Great products. But they don't need replacing in a hurry (most so-called updates are an illusion) and they're only valuable to a moneysaver if you don't try to trade them in.

@oh_really No, it still works but the battery doesn’t last all day anymore and the memory is getting full with all the updates over the years. I don’t think it’ll cope with iOS 15 and I don’t like not having the latest security updates.

The only reason I haven’t upgraded already is because my phone has Touch ID. The newer models all have Face ID which is problematic when wearing a mask.
Can you not consider one of the many makes of phone that do have touch ID rather than another iPhone? Or is that completely out of the question?

Then either stop wearing a mask or pull it down to use FaceID and put it back again.

Mask usage stopped being mandatory on July 19th.

In England. Still required in Wales. Not sure about other places.
  • You could get the 2020 SE which has Touch ID.

You could just get a cheap standalone MP3 player that lives in the car

Just a 64GB USB memory stick would work OK with many modern head units.

No, I’d only buy Apple. I tried a Samsung Galaxy years ago and it was so complicated to use. I have an iPad, iPhone  and AirPods and I like how everything works easily together. I also feel (rightly or wrongly) that iOS is more secure.

@zagubov I just checked the dimensions and you’re right. All of them are bigger than my current iPhone, which is disappointing. I was planning to buy the iPhone 13 mini and assumed it would be the same size as mine (or smaller) but it’s quite a bit bigger.

I’ll still have to upgrade sooner or later as the phone is almost full up but I’ll be sad to see this one go now.

All you need now is a compatible iCar

Have a proper look at why the current phone is filling up.

OS versions have grown that much to fill up the phone.  a quick look suggest 15 is under 2.5Gb

probably a load of junk on the phone that needs clearing
