I'm in a similar situation - was with PFP and attempted mid-SoLR transfer to switch to Sainsbury's and so far so good. Sainsbury's have taken my opening readings and my account is saying we're on schedule for both fuels for 3rd Oct.

BG have already set up my online account though, and they had previously advised a mid-Oct switch but I haven't heard from them for many weeks now.

Interestingly (and hopefully not too worryingly!) BG are already showing on the register as being my gas supplier, whereas for electricity it's still PFP.

I always knew it was a gamble and told myself nothing ventured nothing gained if it didn't work out, but deep down I know I'll be gutted if it doesn't! Finger's crossed!
Just to follow up on my situation, I was pencilled in to switch to Sainsburys yesterday and sure enough it seems to have succeeded. The online electricity database is showing as Eon but the gas one is saying British Gas. I phoned Sainsburys and they checked both databases at their end and confirmed both were saying Eon (=Sainsburys) and so perhaps the online access I/we've got migth lag to the source slightly.

Today I have officially become a customer of Sainsbury’s 2year energy deal.

Started switch from PE on the 20th Sept, first payment taken today and Eon are now listed as my supplier.

I hope that puts and end to it but as others have said, BG who are mopping up PE customers could attempt to move me to them but as yet, I have not seen any evidence of this happening.

Anyone else managed to jump and had a soft landing?

I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

I also started a switch on Sept 20th that was completed today to E.ON Next on 2 year fix before fixed rates rocketed, first direct debit taken today and E.ON also listed as my supplier.

My switch was from Igloo Energy who Ofgem appointed E.ON Next to take over so have no worries about another company trying to grab me.
  • I started my switch from PE to Sainsburys on 16th Sept and it completed successfully on 3rd Oct (my 12,000 nectar points have been paid too).  Just hope BG dont try and pull me back.
I'll give it 8 weeks before I start badgering BG for the £210 credit I had with PE.

No issues with credit for me, I think I must owe PE around £40 due to them cancelling my DD back in Sept, so they can take as long as they wish.

I switched to Sainsburys on the 18th September from PFP/British Gas.  My supply started on the 5th October and my first direct debit has been taken.  Eon showing as my supplier for both fuels - British Gas never showed as my supplier for either despite their 'welcome' emails.

I am so glad I didn't listen to Ofgem or MSE Martin!

Like you, BG has never shown up as my supplier and like you I am also glad I jumped.
I think getting in quick may have helped it go through and given a more sensible price for the next 2 years.
Who knows what is to come over the next year!
As long as Eon don't go under, I can sleep a bit better for the time being.

My only regret with jumping to Sainsbury's is that I only went for a one year fix! I think in what may well turn out to be naivety I was rather hoping this all might 'blow over' during the next year! Still, should count my blessings and recognise it was still better than staying put.

No one knows what's coming down the tracks but I feel for a while I can think of other things.

  • I am just about to move to Sainsbury's after signing up on the day Green went bust. Impressed with them so far, including the fact that they agreed to honour a tariff that I tried to sign up for a few days earlier (but didn't go through on the website).
I think I will email them and asked them to make sure that Shell don't switch me back. Might not make any difference but a quick email won't hurt.
