BG just emailed but I'm meant to switch to Sainsburys on 7th Oct

OP here. Just in case it helps someone, I’ve just been on the phone to Sainsbury’s Energy (~30 min wait to get through) and the person I spoke to said that there’s nothing to worry about, it’s an automated email I've received from BG and that I’m moving over to Sainsbury’s on the 7th.
Interestingly they said this to me even before looking up my account details when I'd explained the situation I'm in. I got the impression that they've been asked the same question a lot recently. They then proceeded to look up my account and said the same thing once they'd reviewed it.
TBH I was so surprised by how they didn’t make any fuss about the situation (I was expecting at least to be told of some difficulties going forward with my switch) but just immediately assured me that all is well, that I couldn’t think of anything further to ask now that I finally had them on the phone
I don't know if there is anything specific I should have asked, maybe what happens if BG try to switch me back. But I guess I'll cross that bridge if it comes to it, I think the phone call has put my mind at rest a bit.
I also tried to ring BG earlier but got discouraged and gave up trying to get through after hearing their automated message about how if they’re your SoLR you should not contact them for a few more weeks until the BG account is set up.

I has the same email from BG although my switch completed to Sainsburys today. I contacted them via FB and They said unless you get a sales order number from BG then do not worry I wont now be switched to them. If you do get the order number just contact them and they will resolve it1

@HarryDavies01 Thanks for the info, that's helpful to know. I guess I wonder how the energy bill for the days between PE going bust (19th Sep) and me transferring over to Sainsbury's (7th Oct if all goes well) will be resolved.
I've got a bit of credit with PE but it will so and so whether it covers what I might owe BG for the days in between. I assume BG will have to issue me with some sort of order or reference number to resolve that balance, whether it's me paying them money or them returning my outstanding credit from PE. But I guess resolving that balance isn't the same as them becoming my energy supplier.

EDIT - I have just asked the question!0 -

Sainsbury's emailed me on 28th Sep with:
We've contacted your old supplier and your switch to Sainsbury's Energy has been approved. We expect to start supplying you on 7th October.
and another email from them since saying that my first DD will be taken on the 7th.
However, British Gas have emailed me tonight with:
We recently contacted you to let you know that People's Energy has stopped trading and Ofgem, the industry regulator, has appointed us to take over the supply of gas and electricity to your home. [...] We’ll shortly be sending out your Contract Pack
Should I be worried? I thought my switch to Sainsbury's was pretty far goneI'm meant to submit meter readings to Sainsbury's on 2nd Oct
Has anybody else who has British Gas as their SOLR and is due to move to another supplier soon received this above BG email? Is it just an automated message sent to everyone, regardless of switching status?Hi elfounctildl,
I’m in the same boat as you.
With PE and requested to move to Sainsbury’s on the 20th Sept and have been told they will be my new supplier as of 7th Oct.
They have also set up a DD on my current account but as yet have taken no money I also have access to my online account with Sainsbury’s.
Was also told I would be asked to give a meter read to them on the 2nd Oct 'tomorrow'.
So, holding my breath to see it all happen.
I have also had the same emails as you from BG, yesterday they asked me to change my password?
Please update if anything changes for you, I'll do the same.

There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
@trickydicky14 Definitely, let's keep each other posted.
I haven't had an email from BG to update my password though, only the already mentioned email I got yesterday about a 'Contract Pack'. It says that
Over the next two weeks, we’ll be transferring your details over to British Gas and setting up your new account.0 -
Just had email from BG to say my new supply with them starts on the 13th Oct whilst at the same time Sainsburys are asking for a meter read today and say my move to them will start on the 7th Oct.
This is getting interesting me thinks.I choose the rooms that I live in with care,

I'm in a similar situation - was with PFP and attempted mid-SoLR transfer to switch to Sainsbury's and so far so good. Sainsbury's have taken my opening readings and my account is saying we're on schedule for both fuels for 3rd Oct.
BG have already set up my online account though, and they had previously advised a mid-Oct switch but I haven't heard from them for many weeks now.
Interestingly (and hopefully not too worryingly!) BG are already showing on the register as being my gas supplier, whereas for electricity it's still PFP.
I always knew it was a gamble and told myself nothing ventured nothing gained if it didn't work out, but deep down I know I'll be gutted if it doesn't! Finger's crossed!0 -
In the same boat. Moving from people's to Sainsbury's on the 5th Oct. Fingers crossed.
