  • @monnagran and @Brie STS is a win for me... I look at a STS as a lesson, have a few treats, all about the balance, we cant drop every week.

@Brambling - thank you for your support, it does mean so very much, our group is amazing, as you are for updating... I've put a good word in with the man in red for you. X

For everyone else, it is good to be part of a group who benefit each other for no cost, win win.

@dumpling - where ever you are, hope they have a nice chippy and a cool mat for you to sit on.    XXX

We are away tomorrow, Mr JPS said, looking forward to fresh salad every day ( local grown stuff), I have informed him not to bring me glass of OJ and a couple of slices of Bimbo in the morning... (well 10 ish) but I am weak!!!!  Bread is my nemesis.

So what ever happens over the next few weeks, we can all start again money, guilt and not getting on scales in a group to pay someone to tell you your weight! XXX

Thinking about things weight related.....I'm currently trying to be teetotal and initial observation is that I'm eating less.  I guess because my senses are not dulled by alcohol I'm tasting things more and am therefore fussier if I'm not enjoying something and sensible enough to know when to stop eating.  Not sure if this is a common thing.  I do know that people say that the problem with getting drunk (as opposed to having a couple of glasses of wine or similar) is that the next day you really need to restore yourself and so have the mega fry up, large lunch, 2 litres of full fat coke etc.

The other thing is that I'm more aware of how my blood pressure meds might be affecting me.  If I'm eating less in general when I have carbs or sugar I'm getting more of a sugar rush.  I've had 2 times this week when I've had a carby meal and then had my heart rate skyrocket.  I've only had this happen previously that I've noticed if I've eaten something that is a real sugar blast - like a caramel easter eggs or a massive slice of cakes with loads of icing.

Looking to continue this for the next week or two as I think it's beneficial on the weight loss.  Well obviously.

I've heard more than once alcohol called wasted calories Brie I've never been a heavy drinker but did cut back a lot about 10/12 years ago to lose weight and found it decreased my tolerance. I do like a glass of a good wine or a nice gin but don't like to drink on my own (it can be a slippery slope) and I don't drink at all if driving.  As well as the next day eating I think drinking too much can also mean eating mindlessly when drunk, crisps, peanuts, kebab/pizza or lots of buttered toast. Must of us have that tipping point with alcohol when we have that s*d it moment and go into excess with food and drink

I'm either a medical expert or on high blood pressure tablets but should that be causing your heart rate to rocket may be worth checking even if with a pharmacist.

  • I cant even blame it on the booze. I hardly ever drink. I just seem to have "see the pie, eat the pie" syndrome.
