It's good that they're looking at a solution, but if they can't do anything then that's fair enough. 
Ease of changing the belt etc is irrelevant, they simply don't have to do it for personalised items.

Update - You were all right. They won't do anything for me. Even asked if they could possibly knock me a little off a replacement one but nope. Never mind..

It was £285.. I possibly put the wrong amount on here. Still looking for a buyer, not looking good :-( Some big lessons learnt here!
