I understand it is the method of installation of foam insulation that is the problem.  The Gov was pushing this type of insulation around 2020.  We had it installed and it is now costing more to take out than to put in.  No, we did not apply for a grant and yes, we were hoodwinked by the company, who I believe has since been in trouble for its selling tactics.  We have no redress because we paid by cheque.  Lesson learned, though how a householder can go into the attic and make sure a job of this kind is properly carried out is beyond me.  Question is, where do we now find a company we can trust to give us a fair quote for its removal?  If I knew what the cost of disposal of the foam was I might be able to decide if we have a fair quote.

    Hi Angelta.
As I understand it - tho' I'm very much a layman here - even a Section 75 claim from a credit card company would require you to evidence that the product or service was 'misrepresented' or mis-sold. So, if you can do that, then surely other avenues are also open to you?
Do you have, for example, Legal Protection included in your house insurance? If you do, then hopefully they'll guide you through the process, how to obtain this evidence, and how to pursue a claim. They'd hopefully also represent you, should it go all the wall.
But, they won't act on nothing - they will require evidence that this was mis-sold, faulty, misrepresented, or similar.
My personal take on this is, if there was any suggestion - ideally in a recorded way - that coating the undersides of a conventional, ventilated, pitched UK roof would 'insulate' the home, or lead to reduced energy bills, that must surely be a false claim.
What does their advertising and invoicing information say or claim?
Has anyone told you that your roof is at risk?
