The shortage is only due to the brainless idiots who filled up their tanks instead of the usual £20 they pump in once a week.
I've actually got an EV, but last time there was a shortage and still had an ICE I didn't bother to join any queues as I had no vital or longer range trips I had to do. BUT, if I had had to it would have been perfectly logical, once I got to the pump, to put in £40 instead of £20 so that I didn't have to repeat the whole time-wasting procedure the following week. If I did more mileage it would make even more sense to top right up.

Yes, but, if you didn't have to queue because you were filling up normally and not having to panic, you would have only put your regular amount in, whatever that may be..

My normal fueling was empty to full to reduce the number of trips to the pump.

No way would I do the weekly top up routine.

I think more do the full than partial tank.
Their behaviour change will be not going to empty and start doing top up visits.

During lockdowns that full would last 3+months(600miles) more recently from full 1-2m as we are doing more trips.

We had 2x100m trips planned last week but not enough in the tank for those but not empty.

A fit of madness had topped up rather than fill up, now sitting with a red light(70m) since Sat.  no diesel anywhere near us.

Good job we did not have another trip planned(many are 200m round trips) also  put us off booking anything till filled up again.

Google maps live info was showing queues at our main stations 7am yesterday same this morning.
