In my area (East Surrey), most stations have no fuel or there's a queue. Not sure how long are the queues, because they cause traffic queues, so I don't even go there to check. Yesterday, I passed 4 empty petrol stations and then turned around before long queue in East Grinstead. Today had to go on back roads, to avoid queues around petrol stations.

So, unless I go at some unsociable hour, I don't think, I will be able to top up petrol. And my friend in Reading says her local petrol station at supermarket is open and there are no queues.

I wonder if there's any correlation between fuel supplies and political stance in various regions.I guess we'll find out at some point.

    Gee whizz, that's wild...
The Tories punishing certain areas, that's what you're suggesting?
If that were the case, Scotland would have zero fuel, but we're actually all laughing at England scrapping.

The government said there was no shortage. The government lies all the time so people assumed there was a shortage.

It's so bad people have got used to doing the opposite to what the government tells them to, after a million lies and some terrible COVID advice.
On the one hand the government said there was no shortage at refineries yet BP and others had said they were struggling to keep petrol stations fully stocked and there is a known shortage of drivers. Not much use having supplies in a central location if you can't get them where they are needed
There's been a drastic reduction in tanker-qualified drivers in the past couple of weeks versus all the time since Brexit took full effect? Really? (It's not just any HGV driver who can drive fuel/chemical tankers).

    I beg to differ. ;)
No, not in the last couple of weeks. These things take time to manifest themselves and the impact to build up. According to the government they were around 200 ADR qualified drivers short and that was one of the things impacting deliveries.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I think, if that were the case, solid blue Surrey would have no fuel.  Red wall seats borrowed from Labour would be overflowing with fuel as the Govt tries to secure their repeat votes.

I actually don't think the Government are clever enough to think up something like that and, almost certainly, would not be able to manage the logistics chain to achieve that outcome even if they wanted to.  FWIW, if the other lot were in charge, I don't think they could manage this type of outcome either.

The Tories don't have any control over where fuel goes.
I was thinking more in terms of how people consider others and react to misinformation. The people causing the fuel shortages certainly weren't thinking of other people when they queued for an hour to brim the tank up with another £5 of fuel.

Never mind clever enough, this shower couldn't organise themselves out of a broken paper bag.

Some of those that have been interviewed are just clueless - one woman said she got into a queue because other people were queueing.  Others are just plain selfish.

The Cons have form in support for favoured regions and playing with funding for their ends but I think they failed here. Not sure they have that much control in this.
    Ironic really.

I am in 'Solid Blue Surrey' (London borders) and not one of our 13 nearest petrol stations has fuel. It's absolutely insane here, literally not a drop

Lots of folks being tanker w*nkers.

My area esso and shell are empty on most days since last fri, and drunk dry within 5 hours of being filled.

The only one i manged to get fuel is Asda between 6am and 7am.
