Woohoo! The DD taken on 5th October has been credited to my Avro account. The balance on my Avro account is correct according to my own records. Relieved. The payment and updated balance is showing on the old site but not the new one which is odd.

    Yes interesting.

I didn't cancel my direct debit (after we got the message from Octopus to say that future payments would go to them) and Avro took a payment on 1st October. Until now there was no record of this payment on my old Avro account, it just showed my 1st September payment.

So looks like something they've 'corrected' on an overall basis rather than just for you, at least based on our joint experiences.

Makes me more confident that the transition will go smoothly. I did wonder whether that October payment might go 'missing' when the finalising of the Avro account/set up of the Octopus account happened, and I'd have to prove it had been paid etc. But looks, finger crossed, like the transfer to Octopus should go smoothly now.

I switched to Avro on 9th September 2021 and I was also concerned that I would have problems with the finalising of my old So Energy account. However the opening reads I gave to Avro did appear on my Avro account shortly before they announced the collapse (and are still there), and have been used by So Energy to finalise my account, and the refund of the credit from my final So Energy bill is in my bank account.

I've been a customer of Octopus before. Their customer service was very good. And when I switched from them previously they sorted my final bill and credit refund swiftly and efficiently.

Although I make decisions based on price, my past experiences of Octopus and So Energy have been very positive. It compares very favourably with the dismal incompetence and deceitfulness of British Gas, Eon and Avro to name but a few of the energy companies I've had the misfortune of having to deal with.

My recent payment and updated balance have been replicated across to the new site. Happy days.
  • We switched suppliers a few days before the announcement that Avro went into administration and we were in credit,  I took photos prior to switching just in case anything went wrong. We then heard the sad news and was worried that the credit would be lost. Sure enough the credits not transferred and we’ve paid two additional payments to Avro since leaving as DD is still active, as well as paying our new supplier.    I’ve just logged onto the Avro site and there’s no record of any transactions or outstanding settlements.   I’ve email my supplier and the said speak to Octopus energy, I did that and the response wasn’t helpful, it seems that they’re using the same template for responses. Don’t know where to stop the DD as I don’t owe anything but worried I won’t be refunded even though I’ve enough evidence with bank statements and billing prior to the switch.

    Any advice anyone?

Speak to your bank and get them to recall the DDs paid since they went bust.  Any credit due will eventually be returned by Octopus.

    I'm getting a tad concerned.

That is now two direct debits that have been taken out of my bank account by Avro energy. The first at the beginning of October went into the Avro balance account [I took a screengrab of that] .

However, there has now been another direct debit taken off by Avro at the start of this month and that is NOT showing up in my Avro account and it is not showing up in the new Octopus account. either??

I know Octopus and Ofgem told us not to cancel any direct debits, but I'm now concerned that the last direct debit has disappeared into "cyberspace" and that I'm going to have trouble trying to prove that it has been taken off by Avro.

I have put a reminder in my calendar to CANCEL the Avro direct debit before the end of this month as I do NOT want
     any more "disappearing"

Should I be concerned about this?

I wouldn't be concerned as the money will find its way back to you via Octopus, but you are free to cancel the Avro DD at any point, just set aside the cash for later when it will be needed and do set up a new DD with Octopus when you can...
  • Today a Direct Debit has gone to both AVRO and Octopus, the AVRO site says it is unable to show account details due to being too busy. Has anyone else had this problem?

Please cancel the DD to Avro, it serves no purpose if you've already set up one for Octopus.
You will get the money added to your Avro account and any balance will be credited to your Octopus account eventually, but there is no point paying both of them...
