Tui and Emirates lack of communication cost me £639 HELP!

I have booked a holiday to Mauritius with TUI and flying out October 25th 2021 and WAS flying with emirates however on Monday I noticed my emirates flights have been cancelled so I contacted them directly on Twitter and they replied back saying
▫️Please contact your travel agency to sort this for you. I can see seats are available for Heathrow to Mauritius on 25 Oct - 9 Nov. Let me know if you need other help▫️
I contacted tui and after waiting 2hours on the phone I managed to get through and they said it was an error their side and not sure what happened as they could see I paid off the holiday back on 29th July 2021, they offered me 2 new flights however I had to pay additional £639 for these flights or cancel but surely I shouldn’t have to pay for something that wasn’t my fault.
Contacted tui again today to complain and try get the £639 back I paid for these new flights as it was there error but they kept saying there’s nothing they can do, can’t even offer me flight upgrades so where do I stand with this?

Need a little more information. You were originally booked to travel on October 25 but saw the flights were cancelled, and yet you say you are still travelling on October 25? is that correct or has the date changed? If the original date was no longer available, your original holiday was in effect cancelled and you could have had a full refund from TUI. If you are now travelling on a different day, then it is a new booking and with fewer flights, I suspect the fare has increased for the 'new' holiday0

Can you post your original date/routing/flight number, and the new ones you are now due to travel on?Did TUI make this change or did you do it yourself via EK?0

You've posted this twice, which might just confuse things in getting the best advice.
Other thread here Tui cancelled my flight now I have to pay extra £639 !HELP! — MoneySavingExpert Forum Can't think who the mods/guides are for the travel board, otherwise I'd tag them to see if they could merge the threads.0 -
As I understand the OP, your original flights are going ahead as planned but TUI cancelled your reservation. If that is the case then you should not have to pay a penny more, but that is not what you wrote. I suspect that you were careless with communications and are partly to blame for the mix-up, but only more and accurate details from you would establish this.

contacted citizens advice and they told me because I agreed the new flight prices nothing can be done now but they advices me to send a formal complaint via signed post to their HQ to see if I get anything back.
Guess everyone learns from mistakes

If your original flights were cancelled I presume you were refunded for these (or expect a refund of these), what's the cost of that and how does it compare to the £639 you then paid.Sorry JACKTO97 this is really confusing, if you post the full details of what happened as requested by other MSErs above we might be able to help.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0
