On a couple of previous visits I've had a pop-up message on the store scanner to say My Nectar Prices not available, for items that were supposed to be discounted. It seemed to happen only on the first or second item, then the rest reduced as expected.

This was automatically corrected later by them issuing a credit voucher to scan on a subsequent visit, shown in the Nectar app.

However this evening's visit got the not available pop-up once, no reductions on any of the four items, no voucher issue, yet when I looked at home those items had disappeared from the list of offers in the app, as if they'd been used.

The headlines about saving whatever amount a year are going to be false if this sort of nonsense carries on.

    Maybe another phone call.

How are people getting on with this? Is it easier to scan your items as you put them in your basket, or just to scan them all at the end of the shop? And can you buy more than one of each item?

I scan as I go and yes, you can buy multiples of each offer item and get the reduction on them all.

With all of the scan as you go round services in all supermarkets I’ve always put the items directly into my own shopping bags.
30 years ago when Safeway had an early version of scan as you go they gave/sold you plastic crates (greenboxes) to put the shopping into as you go and load into your car. I think Sainsburys had similar boxes back then too.

I just tried this out, and am pleased to see that I can indeed buy multiple items in the same offer. So I saved myself about £8 in doing this, which is not bad. I didn't scan as I went round but only when I got to the checkout tills where a helpful lady picked up all the items for me to scan. This seems quite a good approach as it was unlikely I would be asked for a rescan after doing this. But in future I think I will probably have to scan as I go round. How often do they require rescans? A bit of a bore if you've already scanned everything yourself.

I cycle to the supermarket, so could conceivably get myself one of these https://www.vidaxl.co.uk/e/vidaxl-firewood-backpack-with-carrying-belts-44.5x37x50-cm-natural-willow/8719883765204.html?utm_source=vidaxl_tradetracker&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=uk_webshop&utm_term=8719883765204&utm_content=Home&affiliate_id=tradetracker and drop items over my back into it as I go round once I've scanned them. Might raise some eyebrows!

Someone helping you would not have made any difference as to whether you need a rescan, it’s random and then will happen more if there is something that wasn’t scanned.
They don’t actually rescan them whole lot, if a check is needed they just scab five random things and a full scan is only done if one of those wasn’t scanned by you.

I get rescans about one in every fifteen shops, however I might get two in a row then none for ages. I have never had a rescan when purchasing alcohol, which could be random chance as I do not purchase alcohol regularly or could be something in their algorithm.

Alcohol is the most frequent thing stolen (deliberately not scanned) by customers using those systems, so it would make sense that you're more likely to get a rescan if you haven't scanned any alcohol (as they're wondering if there is some in your basket, not scanned).

Has anyone had an issue with NEVER having been offered any My Nectar prices? I have downloaded the nectar app and smartshop app, made a smart shop, but still I have no personalised offers.

I had a problem today with smartshop only allowing me to use Google Pay to pay. But I wanted to use some Sainsbury's vouchers (which I have in an app called Wallet). Previously this has worked, but today I was in a different store. So I ended up just not using the smartshop app Anyone know the way around this? Can I add the vouchers to Google Pay? Is the issue specific to certain shops/dates?
