Saved £4,30 on my shop today with Nectar Prices. Also collected over 500 Nectar points, which will be tripled as I have now signed up with Sainsbury Energy (received their 12000 bonus points within 48 hours of starting my contract). One hapoy customer here.
Do they triple the bonus offer points?

I get double points from Sainsbury's Bank, but only on the base 1point per £1.
So if I spend £10 but get 20 points for buying a cetain item, I only get 10 extra points from the bank offer next month.

So at those stores which don't have their own SmartShop tills and any users of SmartShop have to use the regular Self-Service tills they won't see the discounts?
I'm not sure as all the Sainsbury's in my local area have separate SmartShop tills.  I assume if they have tills that do both Self-Service and SmartShop then you would have to select which of those you're using, and when selecting SmartShop it will then apply the offers.

      No they don't.

  • Worth noting that my "points offers" have returned this morning, so hopefully it was just a week's blip.

I think if you scan with handset or app then it knows. Its not the till that is the decider, its the method of scanning.

I hadn't even known I had these offers, but was very confused on my last shop as Kingsmill bread showed as "reduced price" even though it wasn't yellow stickered. Having now checked, that item was on the My Nectar Offers so thats why the reduced price was triggered.
Just confusing language on the receipt.

One of my offers is pasta sauce. I have never bought pasta sauce (excluding pesto) as find them full of sugar etc. MSE if you use tinned chopped tomatoes or passata then add garlic, herbs, spices, vegetables to suit taste and recipe.

Have friends who are veggie, vegan and gluten free. They have offers for items that they can't eat. One veggie has baked beans with sausages, vegan has eggs and GF has Sains own weetabix. My GF friend lives alone so unable to have them. Though another GF friend has partner and child and don't have issues eating gluten.

It would be nice for Sainsburys to have filters for customers with dietary requirements to exclude certain food products.

Another offer I have is organic bananas. I have never bought them has have digestion issues when I eat them. I'm fine with them blended into a smoothie or in a cake.
  • Sainsbury's say Scan & Go is only available in selected stores but they don't list those selected stores anywhere on their website. If you live in a town without a Sainsbury's but might be visiting a town with one, then you have no way of checking in advance if you can use the promotion, other than to phone the store.

In the normal Nectar offers (not my Nectar prices) I keep getting bonus point offers for a 4 pint carton of Sainsbury's semi-skimmed milk. When I was a student (over 10 years ago) I brought that regularly but I've developed a medical condition where I need to limit the intake of lactose, so I would only ever buy that now if it was for someone else.

With pasta sauce it's possible their algorithm has decided because you buy pasta but don't buy pasta sauce, that a special offer on pasta sauce is suitable.
