Avro Energy bankruptcy

I could have stayed with Shell Energy fixed for £113 pm,there was no off putting information on Avro Energy on MSE.
So I fixed with Avro for £96 pm as recommended by Mr Martin Lewis.
Now I probably will have to pay £150 pm for energy through no fault of my own.
You should NOT push utility suppliers that are not financially robust.
You MUST show which companies hedge or are financially secure as part of your search criteria for customers so they have all the information to choose efficiently, this should apply for all utility providers.
Personally this would have made the choice to Stay with Shell Energy for me.

It wasn't recommended by Martin Lewis. It may have be shown on this site but that's a very different thing.
Until this month no-one would have paid any attention to hedging or not.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.2 -

This situation is fast moving and unpredictable.2 -
I don't think it's fair to blame others for a company you chose to switch to failing. Nobody had predicted this situation and yes a lot of people will lose money, but many many companies are going to go bust. Only the big 6 are safe, would you have chosen a higher priced big 6 earlier?2

Your irritation is mis-placed. It's up to you to do your own due diligence. Like many of us, you took a calculated risk by going with a smaller supplier to save money. This is the other side of the coin.3

It was on his site therefore the responsibility lies ultimately with who manages the site.
I am one of thousands who may have jumped due to it being on this site.
So you are now saying financial robustness is not important what a feeble response, pathetic really, people put trust in these sites all of them.
When you put your face to a company and you allow it to be used you are accepting or inferring you approve to give your recommendation to a product.
It was not too good to be true by any means whatsoever,if that was the case why was it on there......something is very wrong here.
You cannot take the fee for the switch then not give a Monkees when things go wrong.
I did a search of several comparison companies and Avro did not appear on them.
Alarm bells did ring but I trusted and used this site for the first time not impressed.
Professionals should NOT recommend companies that may be in trouble.
Martin was on the telly many times telling people to switch to avoid big price hikes.
I do not study what's going on with utility companies viabilities, BORING!!
THAT IS THE JOB OF PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE who are employed within these sites who decide who to place for comparisons.
They study the whole viability of companies they they decide are on their sites.
I am merely saying that financial robustness must be part of the search criteria so better choices can be made.
If you know the information you can make better choices.
Until this criteria is included on comparison sites this will happen repeatedly.
If it happens again they should get a severe knuckle rattling....it would be just plain wrong.

Strange that the top of the page has his image and "Chair, Martin Lewis"?

The information on our Site shouldn't be taken as any advice, representation, or arrangement by us – you're responsible for making (or refraining from making) any specific investment or other decisions. If we mention companies on our Site, we usually do so because of their attractive offers. We don't usually vet them on customer service or whether they may go bust. Because the impact of our Site information can vary based on your particular circumstances, you should always carry out your own research into the product or service that's of interest to you. why 150pm? What is your usage? Im a fairly heavy 14k/5k user paying 130pm from Avro and moving to a cap rate of 157pm, not an "end of world" change.

is where I got my info from (remember to add vat! and that site does not use the cheaper DD calculation so it will be lower for me)
I am lucky because I can absorb a 30pm change (I need to cancel the gym I dont use anyway), I feel very sorry for those who cannot and will need to choose between eating and heating.0 -
I am a low user being out most of the day, and was paying £40 a month with AVRO for 6000kwh gas 700kwh electric.
Any idea what my cap price would be when switched?

But each energy switch isn't his personal recommendationoldagetraveller1 said:Strange that the top of the page has his image and "Chair, Martin Lewis"?
