  • Customers need not worry, their supplies are secure and domestic credit balances are protected is what it states on the website

    Martin mentioned today on the radio five programme he was on that in the past on this issue some suppliers were very accommodating in respect of balances and credits but others were and are not

    Spin a coin time I suppose

    Phew, thankyou!
    Screenshotted everything. £134 in credit, though they haven't billed me for the last two months since I switched to them (despite giving readings, lol), so no idea what that really is.
  • I only sent them meter readings yesterday,  didn't know they were going bust as I hadn't seen any  news. I've done the same and screenshot everything as we are over £200 in credit.
  • Cabt get to statements but I did at least get my balance this morning!

    You can sign into the website BUT no data and everything is blank. Whatever you click on just hangs endlessly with the twirling arrow circle.

    I am wondering if I should cancel my DD but I don't want to get cut off.

    Supposedly it's the number of people that are logging in that is causing the site to fail.

    You won't get cut off if you cancel your direct debit, at the worst you'll be taken off your fixed tariff for the final bill or charged some kind of surcharge. I'm not sure if you can complain to the ombudsman if that happens, as the administrators are probably not regulated by ofgem.

    So sit tight then perhaps ? I don't remember being that much in credit.
  • I think most people want to get their credit balance proof TBH.  Whilst it is all good to say the SOLR will pay out, if you cannot prove what you have in your AVRO credit then what can you do?  I only heard about AVRO going under from a BBC article, I dont frequent these forums very often.  I do download my bills monthly but only have August, and I dont have a screenshot of my credit - only what I had in August.  Since then ive submitted my monthly readings and had a DD taken out - I supposed I could work it out using the bill calculations but a screenshot is better. Im also guessing that a late september DD will be taken out and that money would be in limbo.
  • From today's Times;
    On the face of it, the Warwickshire-based Avro, which has about 600,000 customers, is the latest victim of the record jump in wholesale gas prices. Yet its most recent set of company accounts do not suggest a business in shape to weather a storm. Between January 2018 and June 2019, it had annual sales of £389.7 million and the cost of generating those sales was £389.4 million — a gross profit margin of 0.08 per cent. Avro made a pre-tax loss of £28.1 million.

    This site was encouraging people to switch to companies like Avro as recently as last week!  It does say in the info at the bottom of the page here We don't as a general policy investigate the solvency of companies mentioned  so even if something looks too good to be true, it'll be on here.

    Never again will I take a recommendation from this site at face value!  Thanks Martin!

  • Website is only partially working. I can log in but that's it. I can't see any details, meter readings, statements, credit, etc.
