I've contacted the landowner, expressed the situation and my concern and they have just emailed today to confirm that they have instructed Civil Enforcement to cancel the 'charge'! (correct terminology!)

As for the other respondents - I hope today is a happier day for you than when you both responded. I often find a cup of tea will take the edge off. x
