So the bank account you withdrew the cash from that you are currently living off…I assume you still have this account? A current bank statement showing the last withdrawal and explaining that you live off this capital, with a signed statement that you are not working, should suffice for the correct deduction to be applied.

I no longer have this account, I regret closing it now

Yes, that was not the best idea.

Do you keep your money under the bed?

How much are you talking about?

    Hi,

My parents are on Pension Credit and have received a letter from the council wanting to know updated details regarding my income as the non-dependant.

Do they actually ask for proof?  The document you quote talks about asking for details, not proof that the details are correct.  So your parents just tell them you have no income.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

They're asking to provide income details for the non-dependent (me), wage slips if I'm in work and evidence of any other income.
The last line says Failure to supply this information will incurr the highest non-dependent deduction.

I know this is an unusual case where I don't have any document to email them. (I was thinking NI statement for the relevant years will prove I have no NI contribution thus no income). I only have my word although they are welcome to investigate if they want.

It would only show that you have no income subject to NI - not that you have no income.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

The bank could provide confirmation that your account is now closed and of your last withdrawal. You just need to provide a signed statement that you have no other accounts and, as mentioned previously, that you are not working or receiving any other income.

That's true. It is evidence that I certainly don't have enough income to be paying more than I currently do unless they think I'm moonlighting and working cash in hand.

Currently I pay a deduction of £15.95 rent under the heading "Not in paid work" which is the same deduction as a non-dependent (ND) that is allowed to earn £148.99 or less in week.

They will have to assume I have secret investments earning me £148.99 x 52 weeks = £7,747.48 before they consider moving me up a band where I'm subjected to £36.65.

If they don't accept my excuse, I could be subject to the highest possible deduction of £102.85.

Thanks for your suggestions. I beginning to think it would be easier just to sign up to a gig like Deliveroo. Do a couple of hours just to get a wage slip. At least I have something to give them even though I'll just be paying the same NDD.

This not for local authority , it is for Pension Credit.
