I like the mixed frozen fruit from Mr Ts, is it called wonky fruit or something ?! But do find it a little sharp with all the black currants, now you mention it…

ive been contacted by the veg box company and apparently I missed a DD payment in August . I also know the October payment was missed, total is about £175 so I’m a bit worried about that. Will try and stretch our stores to end of next week when the first of us come out of self isolation can go to L1dl rather than an expensive home delivery

I managed to resist going to the butchers and treating us to one of their ready prepped stroganoffs. It is delicious but would have cost around £8.  Instead we had tortellini (already in fridge) lhomemade mushroom and tomato sauce with grated cheese.  No £ spent and it was quick, easy and tasty.  The Friday night Prosecco probably made it taste even nicer.

Pub night with my dad this evening £10 exactly (one round). French stick, pain au chocolat and milk on Thursday morning £2.44. Which is 141.35 spent out of 200, and leaves £58.65. There's another gallery jaunt next weekend, so I anticipate another £10-20 on coffees (or drinks as it's the evening) and I will need to get eggs, milk, coffee, bread (crusty and sliced), tinned fish and veg sausages for toad in the hole this Sunday.

No money spent today. Made leek and potato soup for the next few days lunches with leeks and potatoes I got yesterday and over the weekend I will be having a look in the freezer for main meals until pay day next week.
    Have a good weekend everyone

  • £13.75 spent since last post in Mr S.

After having a thorough look at everything we have in we have decided to skip our A&C delievery this coming week along with no fruit and vegetable box from O~box. We will do top ups at Mr S when needed and maybe in the L!dl that isn't far from us.

OH is at a friends for the weekend so I have been left with food I can either microwave or eat as it is.

    £169.47/£240.
    £70.53 left.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

  • @jozbo I hope you and your family are feeling better. Thankfully you were able to get a delivery versus last year when deliveries were clogged up.

I have a couple of hopefully final spends to declare. The H & B order I put in on Thursday came to £25.93 for cashews, pistachios, teas, and vitamin D. That'll be taken out of the bulk fund but we went over a bit.

Today I stopped into Iceland for 2 rolls of trash bags, cheese, strawberries, and a big bottle of dish soap. That was £11.00

Overall, we have £48.94 left in the total budget of £315.00 for the month so we've spent a total of £266.06. This is tremendous improvement! We've been hitting £400 - £550 for the last few months. Sometimes even £600 in some cases. Yes, we're going away for 10 days at the end of the month but we'd still only spend £20 for another veg box and a few more pounds for yoghurt. I'm so glad I decided to try weekly budgets instead of monthly and thanks to everyone on this thread for keeping me honest!

I haven't spent any GC money today but would like to pick everyone's brains please?

I treated myself to a Dishpatch delivery from the Ottolenghi Test Kitchen which arrived earlier today and I've eaten some of it for dinner tonight and it was delicious.
I've come to the conclusion that a big part of the reason the food tastes so good is the quality and freshness of the ingredients they use which particularly applies to the fruit and veg. I've also, quite co-incidentally, been sent some vouchers to use at W*rose before the middle of November.
So, I'm wondering about either shopping at W*rose which does sell the freshest and best quality veg locally or getting a veg box delivery from someone like Abel and Cole or another company.

    What does everyone else suggest?

I guess everyone’s local suppliers are different.

I don’t always find W8rose are freshest, in fact quite often I’m impressed by how fresh A1di‘s fruit and veg are, but I expect it depends on the branches you’re near, and when you shop relative to when they have deliveries. I do think WR quality is generally much better though
