@diminua - I always freeze left over coconut milk as I only ever use 100ml at a time. I freeze the LOs in a silicon muffin tray and once frozen put them into a freezer bag. Definitely saves me having to think about what to do with the spare as don't always want to use it immediately!

@Mi@MissRikkiC is there a good recipe for this houmous? I have never tried making it. Mind you I only have a nutribullet and think I will not want to add garlic etc in there ..
Oct Groceries Challenge £49.99 of £160
Lidl and some coffee/yellow stickers from Tesco
plus £1 sweets from my spare cash fund)
Have also got 65p spent of the £10 spent of bulk other purse (as recommended in Grocery challenge) but not sure how I am tracking/using this as yet - any views - maybe the £10 mothly add should be coming out my £160..
I just tried lidl earl grey and I am not enjoying this brand. I really notice with coffee beans/ground coffee and earl grey that I am really aware of the taste difference, I cant 'brand down' and I don't drink instant. Herbal tea is easier to down brand although there is a fabulous brand called Tea People and their white tea and chai mixes are exceptional - was bought as a Xmas gift and defi itely want some more!
However continuing on the down brand exercise - the lidl fresh houmous, salsa, aioli and guac is fabulous and much cheaper. I also love the Gressingham Turkey burgers when I can get them at lidl. Super tasty. I guess I could make them with Turkey mince but I am not sure its worth the effort at £2.49 for 4 burgers. Do let me know if I am wrong.I have a free Ubereats voucher £10 - need to use in next few days but not overspend - I am eyeing up a Busaba Eathai pad thai or a green curry - both are GF

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Oct Groceries Challenge £58.56 of £160
I have just used my free uber eats voucher of £10 at iceland ubereats instead of a restaurant ... the last twice I had a Leon T/A and it was not nice, not hot and soggy. I had looked at sainsb via uber eats but they charge loads in service fee, delivery and expensive goods.
However Iceland prices were a little more but they had also a spend £20 save a £5 offer as well to use in combination so my £20.25 groceries came to £8.57 inc £2 delivery and 79p service charge and had lots sparkling water, coffee, bleach, kitchen rolls, frozen veg etc.
Plus some 3 x sweets
NSD destroyed today so still NSD 5/13 (M/T/W/S/M)DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

LadyWithAPlan - with tea and coffee, I think it's worth it for myself not to have brands I don't enjoy, so I always have the same ones I enjoy even though they cost more, I even take coffee to my dds when I babysit as I don't particularly like the brand she buys!
Goldfinches - I know there's loads of ways to eat cabbage but sometimes I just can't be bothered to cook them! And I just planted so many, even dds are getting fed up with them, and they take up too much room in the freezer if I freeze it and I haven't got any space in there even if I wanted to, so I'm just going to have to suck it up and get eating it any any guise possible, tomorrow it's stuffed cabbage leaves I think, mind you that's not going to use much up is it?! Lol
Anyway I haven't spent anything today and its the end of week 3 for me so just one week left so I should be ok.

£54.53 spent at Mr S.
£12.70 spent at A&C.
My O~box this time was a large fruit and vegetable box (£19.99 on its own including the delivery cost) . The mushrooms, extra hot chillies and the lemons were extra. So O~box total £25.06. Again, no I do not work for them; just trying to spread their message.
I find that crazy!
If anyone wants the weights of the above just ask. I can honestly say that the quality is very good.
I still have some fruit and veg from last week that is perfectly fine still - I store all items optimally to reduce waste as much as possible.
Total spent since last shop £92.29.
Won't be getting O~box next week as will be working through what we have and only buy top ups that are needed fruit and veg wise. So just A&C for needed and Mr S top ups next week.
£155.72/£240.
£84.28 left.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy4 -
I couldn't work out why my Morries bill was such a lot yesterday. Turns out I spent £12.30 on yoghurts/yoghurt drinks (mainly for my son, it's one of few healthy things he'll snack on, and takes to work). Also £8.50 on maple syrup, for making granola, which is healthier than the bought kind IMHO.
So they're both spends on things I do want and which are beneficial, but hadn't realised how much they added up to. Useful to kmow. Aldi do both of these but didn't have maple syrup in stock when I last went. Also I don't think they have not much of a range of Activia type yoghurts, but will look again.5 -
I did a quick Lidl shop on Monday as hadn't done the usual weekly with being away.
Using my £10 voucher came in at £30, however, looking at the receipt I realised I spent £9.14 on smoked polish ham, which although we like (hence I got 2) I wouldn't have bought if I'd realised it had such a mark up!!! DH better enjoy as it's the last time I'm likely to buy - I will stick to cooking off a gammon in the slow cooker in future.
Even so, current total of £268.05/£480 - £11.95 better than expected at this point, so will try and carry that forward :-)
thinking in a weekly total this month is definitely helping me focus so I shall continue that going forward.
@joedenise why did I never think of freezing coconut milk!! such a simple, but brilliant idea - thank you
@LadyWithAPlan I don't brand down on tea or coffee either, I even supply my own at work as the type supplied isn't one I enjoy - life is too short to drink bad coffee!!!

HI all, combination of milk at the corner shop, a small MR T top up and the community grocery mean my current spend is £133.61/£350.
Meal plan is working well and we have some small spaces in the freezer now. Storecupboard is full to bursting so no need to buy anything other than the fresh & bread.Grocery Challenge 2024
