Surely the 5p/15p Octopus Go / Go Faster tariffs can't be sustainable in the near future?

The issue seems to be that Octopus are switching customers to the new tariff but showing them quotes for the old May tariff.I'll need to call them tomorrow to question why but I also have it showing me going on the Octopus 24M Fixed from the 09/10 so no idea why that's there.Exactly, it's not the fact they've raised the rates that I have an issue with, it's the fact that a quote for GO before I switched and even right now still shows the May 2021 rate and not the September one they have put me on. If it showed the September rates I wouldn't have bothered switching to it.I also have no idea why it states I'm going on a fixed from 09/10.

Yep, as entirely expected the go and go faster peak rates have gone up this afternoon to the new "september tariff"
As @bristolleedsfan has posted the rates per region above. The peak rates now coincide with the competition.
The octopus go faster cash cow is now no more. Now people will have to do their sums again to see if these tariffs are worth it for them, before it was a no brainer for everyone. Now its a little more nuanced.
The main problem with moving to octopus go and go faster has always been that they wouldn't confirm your tariff rate until the time at which you ACTUALLY transferred to go/gofaster. You'd always need to go on one of their fixed/variable tariffs first, then wait until they could read your smart meters before making the jump.
For those of you that "ordered go/gofaster" and completed the online forms for the timings and off peak rate duration you wanted it may well be worthwhile to email smart@octopus.energy and plead with them that you ordered in good faith at the May tariff, so you would hope that would be honoured.....whether they honour it or not is another story. But octopus tend to be decent at customer services so theres always a chance.
If you hadn't initiated the switch to go/gofaster and were just moving to the standard tariffs then you're probably out of luck.2 -
I don't think they will honour the advertised 15p rate if you have not agreed the t&Cs & signed the contract email already for Go ( Not to switch to Octopus).
I got caught when it moved from 13p to 15p earlier this year, I requested a move to go faster & the rates changed between applying & signing the 'contract' and octopus basically said tough luck, once new rates come out, you can't get onto old ones, even though you signed up for the advertised rates.
From Octopus at time:
I stayed on 13.96 fixed until March 22 and just didn't agree to the new rates.
Cheers

masonic said:Yes worrywart_3, 25p is the standing charge, so you got in before the price rise. The difference between Go and Go Faster is the timing, duration and price of the off peak rate. There are multiple versions of Go Faster, each with a different start time and duration, starting from as early as 8:30pm and ending as late as 6:30am, for 3, 4 or 5 hours.Edit: I suggest you hide some of the personal information in those screenshots, and charge your phone!0

worrywart_3 said:Yes I googled looks like go faster would be slightly better but if I change may be the rates will be higher now ? I was pointing out to the person who was saying unit rate was 25p that I think that’s the standing chargeI can't see how Go Faster can stay on its current rates now Go has been put up. People will just try to switch across in droves. I doubt the current Go Faster rates will last the week. They probably just didn't have time to update them today.0

I assume the times have changed too? I wished to switch to a 20:30 start; email received today started with the following times:
Option 1. Take a 3-hour Go period at 4.5p/kWh and select a start time of 21.30, 22.30, 23.30, 00.30, 01.30, 02.30 or 03.30
Option 2. Take a 4-hour Go period at 5.0p/kWh and select a start time of 21.30, 22.30, 23.30, 00.30, 01.30 or 02.30
Option 3. Take a 5-hour Go period at 5.5p/kWh and select a start time of 21.30, 22.30, 23.30, 00.30 or 01.30
Previous email from a few days prior offered 20:30 through to 00:30

The go faster peak rates have moved in line with the go rate. It just hasn't been updated on their tariffs page yet.
Interesting to see the 20.30 slot has gone, they'll probably state that allocation is full now. (Either that or they cottoned on that everyone was picking that time)0
