Some folks on Flyer Talk are suggesting that if you book a £10 Ryanair flight you can use the transit exemption from hotel quarantine. Clearly it is illegal but I don’t think the government have any way of knowing whether you took the Ryanair flight or not.
Easier to come via Ireland as they have now removed their quarantine restrictions.

Flyertalk also suggests that border force are aware of this scam and are more likely to spot check you if you have a cheap flight booked for onward travel, from a different airline on a low cost airline than anything that looks remotely genuine.

Previously it was inbound flights from India where 20% of passengers had an onward flight to Gibraltar. Problem was that they weren’t staying in Gibraltar for 10 days, in fact not even 10 hours. Only to be met by border force on their return from Gibraltar and sent off to a quarantine hotel.

Yes and I don't think you need a passenger locator form when arriving in the UK from Ireland.

Correct. I got back yesterday and no tests either in or out, just proof of vaccination.

This is how it should be for all of Europe.

Is this Ireland of Ireland? Will you need to do a day 2?

Common Travel Area - you don't even go through Passport Control on the way back - just Customs and no jabs in or out.

The rules are you are required to complete one if you have been outside the common travel area in the last 10 days.

  • Rules from Gov.uk :

When you do not need to complete the form

You do not need to complete the passenger locator form or book COVID-19 tests if you’re travelling from one of the following places, and you were there for 10 days or more:

    • Ireland
    • the Channel Islands
    • the Isle of Man
    • You do not have to complete the form if your job means you’re exempt.
  • Who would you give the form to given there is no border control ?

I'm not suggesting people do it, but it does seem hard to enforce.
  • You submit the form online as usual - failing to do so can lead to a fine -
