went to aldis. shouldn't of bothered.
Dont normally use aldi's, but just wanted a few things for myself and a old guy up the road. he wanted a victoria sponge, went to the cake section, they dont sell victoria sponge believe it or not. wanted some fly spray, no sorry dont keep that. and a young girl there trying to manoeuvre a pallet of tinned goods, which looked like it weighed 1/2 a ton, didn't know what a steak and kidney pudding is.
I knew there was a reason I don't use aldi, and this morning reminded me what it is.

Oh good! More for the rest of us!!!
Aldi (& Lidl) are great for standard items - fruit, veg, meat, fish, WINE! and alcohol, milk, yoghurt, chips etc. I've never seen them selling aspirin so have stopped looking for it.
Their focused campaigns - Oktoberfest will be here soon - are great to get special items. Fly spray was probably available earlier in the year during one of their garden/outdoor campaigns.
But it's the same as all the supermarkets - I would never buy coleslaw from Sainsburys or Waitrose as what they sell is vile. Tesco or Asda or Lidl are great. Just depends on what you like.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I gave up in the end. went to the village shops near where I live. got my meat stuff from the butchers, fly spray in the hardware store, and my friends cake in the bakers. rather more expensive doing it that way, but at least they got what I want, and I'm dealing with people who know what I'm talking about.1

There are many what look like butchers around these days. And all they do is sell unforzen meat. Would not know how to cut meat in any way. Still some use local meat and I guess it's better than other. Though morrions around here still has a real butcher in it.Hardware store. Well they may know some things and it will be a better experience than B&Q which looks like they do not care and often selkl broken things only in what you want for 0.005% off ;-). Baker's again ashow me a real one. Not that I care for cakes.I thinkl the real takeaway is leanr to expect what to get in certain shops and only go there if it fills the criteria for what you want.I like Aldi. I am unsure what alis is ;-) .

I'm not THAT surprised that you couldn't get Fly Spray, Steak and Kidney Pud or Victoria Sponge in Aldi.
I certainly wouldn't be writing it off on that basis.4 -
