LBC - I wouldn't even call the car parked, rather "stopped".

Yes, the lack of signs is a powerful defence.

I have added some more words to my earlier post...
And see those two car parks fenced in either side of that road?
I wonder why the drivers of those cars didn't think to park beyond the end of the yellow lines in that picture, rather than paying to be fenced in?
That's really a question the OP should've asked himself.

  • I'm the OP and I wouldn't park in the middle of the road there, where the yellow lines stop. I also wouldn't park up in those bays and leave my car there without a permit. However, I was stopped for a short period of time, inside the car, with the car running, I didn't consider that parking and would have moved if I was in the way or someone asked me to.

I could have stopped in the middle of the road too, but I didn't want to be a nuisance. I wonder if they would have ticketed me if I did that?

Maybe not, but as Cutter Lane and Phoenix Avenue are both one way streets, the only way to reach the place where you parked is by passing the point I pictured - where yellow lines end, road surface changes and the sharp edged London kerbstones end.

However. as both you and Coupon Mad have pointed out, if there are any signs, they certainly aren't prominent.

  • Gladstones just texted me! How did they even get my number? Would the PPC be allowed to pass my details on from the previous tickets?

I have a record of emailing them and (probably) automated reply from them confirming receipt of my email.

They can use a tracing service to obtain your data , but you can SAR them and ask if you want
  • Ah if it's available I won't bother, I'd only do it to annoy them and give them more work. Another intimidation tactic.

On a side note, I was looking at the IPC Code of Practice (2021). I imagine the wording is deliberately vague, but what is a sufficient consideration period? I don't believe the grace period applies to me as I did not have a permitted period of parking in the first place.
