Ooh, exciting builder news! Well done on the PB win - nowt for us this month sadly.6

You're welcome @greent - fingers crossed for you!
A very spendy day for pets - £151.76 spent on Maine Coon's fancy branded cat food. In fairness that is enough wet food to see him to the end of August and nearly a year's supply of dry food (20kg). There didn't seem to be any point in not getting the lowest available price. I use Bitib@, who are very reliable for what we buy - 5% off if you spend more than £75, free delivery via DPD (who are one of the more reliable couriers) and a stamp for every £25 spent, which counts towards a money off voucher and works out as roughly another 5% off). Used the S@insbury's CC for a few Nect@r points to boot. There wasn't enough in the pet line of the budget, so home maintenance has taken an unexpected kicking to the sum of £507 -
Thanks for the reminder about the PB - after checking the app it turns out I won £50 (2x £25) - woot!6

Hope your back improves soon.
Ouch to the home improvement bill but sounds money well spent.

Ed, your savings rate may be more modest, but you absolutely smashed my -£323 🤣!
I've never calculated my NW 🤔 Hmmm, if we're taking property value, pensions, investments and cash in hand....maybe £153k 😳? So you're smashing me on that one as well!!!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!6 -
Like I say, @South_coast, it's complicated. Mrs E and I have something like 2/3 of our state pension rights, that's worth in the region of £350k alone. It's hard to value DB pensions, state pensions etc. and 20x is a figure that is often used. I prefer to use 25x, as that's roughly what it would cost me to replace them were I to use the Trinity study figures as a guide. It's quite possible they're worth even more as guaranteed income, perhaps 4% SWR is no longer a thing in a world of lower growth and persistent inflation?
If you just have vanilla circumstances of state pension, house, and a DC pot, of course you will be less wealthy on paper. DB pensions are a massive boon/vastly unfair for those who don't have them and are worth a fortune.
