Thank you, that's helpful! I keep remembering my interview for this job, 10 years ago now, where I did a presentation and genuinely went in feeling like I already worked here 😂😂 will try and channel some of that energy! 😂😂 Definitely trying to reframe nerves as excitement- and some of it is actual genuine excitement 😂edinburgher said:@Cheery_Daff - it may sound silly but I found positive visualisation (i.e. imagining my confident entrance, greetings with the panel etc.), trying to frame my nerves as excitement to sell myself as opposed to fear, and genuinely believing that they wanted me to do well to be of assistance. Can't give any more practical tips as we are in very different worlds
As regards the point about believing that the panel wanted me to do well, it helped that I had been given a hint that this was the case beforehand
I have sat in interviews before where it was quite obvious that the panel did not give a rat's bottom whether I was there or not, and you just want the earth to open up and swallow you!
Future me will try and help some bright (age irrelevant) thing who deserves a job but perhaps needs a wee confidence booster when applying
I have done my best to mentor people in the past who have definitely gone on to get jobs but this was a wee bit more blatant, in the nicest possible way. I suppose it was my turn for a wee bit of public sector nepotism, it certainly took long enough
I've got some more stuff to read this afternoon, and I'm going to spend the evening going over my examples and trying to RELAX rather than fretting myself into a frenzy 😬8 -

Long time lurker - what brilliant news to read this morning. I’m so pleased for you and I sure it’s very well deserved too. 👏👏👏5

A few compromises being asked of me.
1. They want me to work over 5 days.
2. They need me in the office twice a week.
1. I'd already offered and 2. I've been told will be mandatory soon, anyway.
We are investigating whether nursery will let us buy another (short) day. I feel pretty relaxed and sanguine about the asks, which is funny, as I'd have defended the status quo to the death in my current job. Perhaps another sign of my deep dissatisfaction and need to leave!
Written conditional offer received (usual HR checks etc) 👍🏻7 -
Excellent work ed! Definitely a good sign that you're more sanguine about the asks 😊3

Have you had your interview yet? 🤗Cheery_Daff said:Excellent work ed! Definitely a good sign that you're more sanguine about the asks 😊3 -
Yes this morning 😬 I think it went ok - definitely a MUCH better experience than my last one. They were lovely, and made an effort to make the experience positive, which was great. No big surprises in the questions. I answered most well, fudged a couple, and we were done in 30 mins - but then I asked them some questions and we had a nice chat, including about what they all liked about working there 😂
My feeling is that I'd fit in well - but I could have a bit more experience in a couple of areas, so if someone else has that, they'll probably go with them. It's in the lap of the gods now, and I confess I am NOT being patient in waiting (and it's only been an hour 😂😂)7 -
That sounds very positive and you were clearly as relaxed as anyone can be during these things
I will keep everything crossed for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Ps. I'm an impatient sod, too 🤣7
