I do worry a lot (DH doesn’t really get it) and I know I make myself feel poorer by taking my savings out first and trying to live on the rest, but after I was threatened with redundancy I realised that no one is indispensable. Plus after some horrible work jobs, I appreciated the position I was in that I didn’t have to stay and could take the choice to leave. As a result I try to get myself to the best position I can so I can continue to walk away whenever I need to. But for that I need more savings, pensions and to pay down the mortgage and probably push myself quite hard on those.

Also DH is older than me and in the words of my mother “I refuse to continue working if he’s sitting around the house all day” 😂
