I have been paid, coffers replenished somewhat!£13.67 OPed, about £1.70 from Prolific and a few pence from Chase.
A frustrating day in which I felt physically sick from workload panic this morning, then rattled through a bit of work, now CBA in the afternoonDay off with DD1 tomorrow, off to Edinburgh for a bit of retail therapy

Err, my decorator* said you should use an oil-based primer to stop stains leaching through. My understanding is the Zin stuff is shellac, so resin based

We appear to have a tree of heaven growing directly next to our front steps in a hard to reach place. Oh joy3
-
Oh my Lord, not the best day, even if I tried my best to pull things back from the brink
- Day started by realising that the foul smell was a giant, rotting mouse under one of the bookcases
Cue a cleanup process that involved unscrewing bookcases from the walls, shifting everything off them, removing the offending article, hoovering up mouse poop, cleaning the carpet, spraying the carpet with two different cleaners (one enzymatic, one bleach and perfumed which required a trip to the shop). Bookcases then needed replaced, with one of them dusted, cleaned and re-stacked.
- Mrs E then took the girls out to a trampoline place and they were all melting by the end and stopped for drinks and ice cream (£42 for the day out).
- I did a couple of hours of overtime, which will just about cover points 1 and 2.
- I didn't have the right weedkiller in stock for the tree of heaven (SBK Brushwood Killer did a great job against a butterfly bush, so trying it again). That took a trip to the Range (none in stock), then B&Q, then Sainsbury's for a sandwich for Mrs E (who was tidying the living room again) and a tank of petrol.
- Filled a wheelie bin with cuttings from the honeysuckle just so I could get to the trunk of the tree of heaven (it's a sneaky !!!!!! and has intertwined itself completely with the honeysuckle).
- SC pulled pork isn't going to be ready in time because of all of the above, so £28 spent on an unplanned takeaway.
£153 of unplanned spends!
Tomorrow's another day, right?

Oh ed - you tried your best. That was a shed load of issues to deal with, both physically and financially.
Tomorrow is another day, and here's wishing it's a joyous one for Fam. edinburgher - with pulled pork all ready and waiting for an easy meal of your choice 😁

...but there will be days when we just have to be thankful that unplanned spends while frustating, can be coped with and are only a tiny blip in the timeline!

Thanks folks, feeling a bit more relaxed now
£1.62 transferred from my T212 Invest account to my S&S ISA. I only have the invest account because they gave me a free share that I sold for £6 worth of VWRP, so all good 🤷🏻♂️
My wallet is very grateful July is almost gone!6 -
Gosh, where has that come from? Are you sure it isn't staghorn sumac? Actually, they are both horrible. You could try painting neat SBK Brush and stump killer on it (reduce it first, paint it on, wear gloves, cover with a black bin bag)

@Suffolk_lass - tree is exposed and ready to attack when it dries up a little. Plan is to cut off all branches with secateurs, hacksaw trunk as close to ground as I can, paint liberally with SBK. What does the bin bag do? Keep it dry?
Unexpected £15 voucher received for big river via car insurance comparison site. Added £15 to OP pot, voucher will offset our massive S&S order coming at the start of the month (household goods, soft drinks, a dozen bottles of organic prosecco)
