Maybe before the trickle vents you should ask yourself if outside is less or more humid than inside.5

I believe the point you're trying to make badmemory is that you believe trickle vents to be a bad idea? I'm not sure that this is the generally held belief among housebuilders or installers of windows?Phoned Sainsbury's to request a money transfer but had the application referred because I had the temerity to have a new current account from the one they have on file
I have sent a no reference number covering letter to their PO box with a bank statement to supposedly resolve this. All feels a bit dated to me, one more problem to resolve.

I hate my trickle vents. Not all of them close properly (they look closed, but they still let a draught in), and when I moved here they were full of spiders nests and snails. I'd rather open the windows regularly and let the air in - which is what I've always done in previous houses and never had a problem.
One way to reduce moisture/mould by growing peace lilies as they absorb moisture through their leaves. I have them in all my bathrooms (and all over the house, as they breed!).8 -
Maybe try just getting the misted DGU replaced first if you're in two minds? If the seal has failed then that's likely a cold spot. Was the mould worse next to that pane than the others?Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

@greenbee- that's something we already do - just a bit harder in the living room as the windows are behind the shutters and only Mrs E can actually open them unless we fold the shutters away! Interesting point re. plants. My cats are idiots, aren't they toxic to cats when they eat them?
@South_coast - the pane has been misted on and off since we moved in, the mould is 2-3' below the pane. Just to make things complicated, we can't actually remember which pane it is until it rainsShouldn't be waiting too long.

Peace lilies aren't good for cats, but not toxic like conventional lilies (as far as I can remember... best to check). Mine eat the spider plants and some others, some of which make them puke...4

I have a lot of orchids who also absorb moisture through their leaves so i think that is luckily helping my windows.
Good luck on the new career searchDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I had the issue with remembering which panes were the misted ones ….
I used those peelable, sticky page tags that have a clear bit and a coloured bit. It took a while, but I got every one of them! I wrote a number on the clear bit, as every pane was a different size. Then we had a reference list to compare the panes to when they came from the windows company and swapped them out one by one without having to guess which one was which (fortunately all on the ground floor). Have I mentioned how lovely it is being married to a chippy … 😉

I have an idiotic cat too Ed and this is always my point of reference for plants: https://www.cats.org.uk/media/sbljeren/cats_protection_guide_indoor_plants.pdf. Personally I would only opt for entirely safe ones, but ymmv. So peace lily out, but orchids would work.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

A few pennies of cashback and survey money. I have set up a regular overpayment to take our monthly payment to £1,400 as of April. It will knock 1.5 years off. Feels pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of thingsMould treated in the 2 affected bedrooms, managed to splash bleach on a favoured T-shirt. Was going to do study as well, but have ordered more gel bleach stuff (flies about less), so this will wait. Still very much undecided on what to do re. humidity, ventilation and all that jazz.
Off to clean the fish tank and then cook dinner. I am a zombie, DD2 has a cold and we've not had an uninterrupted night in about a week.9
