Hi Ed I can’t bear to look at our S&S; I know they will be down. Hope the little one is on the mend and no one else succumbs. CM8

I tend to look at my investments with academic eyes, I know I don't want to touch them for 10 year plus. So what it is doing right now doesn't overly bother me. I try to work out how much of a movement there has been excluding my (very small) monthly contribution. I believe in 10-15 years time I'll find it a lot more stressful.
It's interesting to look at though, read up on why there are changes. I used to try to theorise what would happen but I was always wrong.9 -
@killerpeaty - I'm not bothered per se - it just means that a bad month knocks my FV formula and requires a larger payment7

I hope the puking toddler has rallied and you enjoyed yesterday's rugby. I intend watching the final (come on NZ!), albeit on my own as DH is awaySave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I did enjoy the rugby @Suffolk_lass, tense stuff!Work IT is gubbed again today (second week in a row). Long story short, there's nowt they can do about it even though a lost day is a quarter of my working weekDoing what I can on Prolific (not much available today). £8.11 and counting.6

I have done the month end round-up and it's grim stuff (IRO -£15,000, most of which is a nominal reduction in our home's value, as well as equity falls).I cannot find any silver linings in the random chance stuff but perhaps there were a few bright spots from the behavioural side of things:
- I've started OPing again (on that note, £87.07 OPed today)
- Prolific and Y Live have been good to me
- Mrs E and I are being more communicative about finances than we have been in years, perhaps because we have to be. We seem to be on the same page

They sound like excellent positives to me! 😊 good to see some OPS being made again. I've long fallen off the wagon 🙄 Deliberately building savings up before mortgage fix ends (next Sept for us). Would be nice to feel like I was chipping away at it though!5

Having prepared the November budget and at least cast a weather eye over December's, this definitely looks like the last month where we will receive regular adult pocket money
To that end, I will start collecting dribs and drabs of cashback, savings interest and survey monies to try and offset the total lack of walking around money.
I have also renewed our buildings and contents insurance, a horrific 39% increase from last year and I don't even have @Suffolk_lass thatched roof to worry about£30 cashback to come (perhaps) at some point in the future but the price is what it is. I have increased the budget line by 39% for next year, perhaps we will get a pleasant surprise?
Other than that? All DDs out, topped up DD2's Tax Free Childcare account and ordered DD1 an electric blanket. Her attic room is dipping to 15 degrees celsius at times, that's a little too cold for comfort. Maybe this will encourage her to stay in her bed a wee bit longer in the mornings?Inspired by largely olden days horror stories, we'll make turning it on before bed and then off after stories as part of her bedtime routine, won't be leaving it on overnight. Mrs E and I considered one for our room but can't justify it.

EEK (in lieu of blue shrieky thing!)! 39% - that stings. I just tried to get a quote for my car insurance but it is four days too early. Putting the 30th November into the tool I got back top three quotes and the second is with my existing insurer, for £5.nn more than the cheapest. It felt reasonable but I need to do a little more research.
We are still on the summer duvet, albeit with a throw on top (I know, southern softies). If it gets really cold I shall revert to my hot water bottle; I have the ocelot cover like this - I genuinely recommend it over an electric one. I warm my feet and then it gets moved so my back is warm, or my front. Both pets try to join in and I wake up with dog in the bed, up against it with cat on top and the HWB still warm, from all the snuggling. We are also very happy with the summer duvet we bought (it is a silk one). No sneezing and it sort of moderates its temperatureSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
