    @nay99999 i will say try to focus on kicking the habit because council will view it that if you were not gambling what position would you have been in.

    It’s a difficult habit but if you focus, it is doable.
    Focus on kicking the habit also because you have a child on the way who won't survive if the wages are all disappearing.

    There is support out there OP definitely time to take it and sort things out

    @mildreds_earrings what if I am facing homelessness, don’t they have a duty to help
    @Mildreds_Earrings
    @nay99999 It depends on their housing allocation policy. Some Local Authorities say they have a duty of you are elderly, a vulnerable adult or if you have children. However if you are in that position because you gambled the money away (Self - inflicted), then you have made yourself intentionally homeless, in which case they might not have a duty to rehouse you at all, even if you are homeless.

    Sounds like you have limited options, in which case, the best case scenario for you is if the Local Authority has 'hard to let' properties on their housing stock. You might get one of those. Ask them.

    My advice to you is to attend Gamblers Anonymous and other gambling support groups and show the Local Authority that you are trying to get help with your addiction. You must be serious about wanting help though. It'll benefit you and your loved ones, in the long run. All the best.

    temporary accommodation is provided whilst looking into your situation. if found to be homeless you need to be in priority need  and not intentionallly homeless. check Shelter.
    I will be unintentionally homeless
    No @nay99999 YOU put yourself in that position (gambled your wages, instead of paying for a roof over your head), so YOU have made yourself intentionally homeless, whether that was your intention or not.  I am not being judgmental - I am just letting you know the reality of your situation and how the Local Authority will assess you.

    I have just read that you are pregnant, so the Local Authority may deem you as vulnerable and help you with temporary accommodation in a hostel. It depends which part of the country you are living in and housing demand in that area but I live and work in West Yorkshire and housing demand is tough.

    Please get help with your addiction for you and your baby. All the best.

    I think it would depends on if you have gambled your wages in the last 3 months worth of bank statements. Is it a lot of money you’ve spent in gambling, don’t think it would be that bad if it’s a couple of quids although if that ended up affecting the money in your account, they might take that into consideration as you still will be renting off them.
