If this is true then being pregnant is also irrelevant until the baby is born in most cases.
(Questioned due to the drip feed of information)
You need to be able to afford the rent. If you can't because you are wasting it gambling and have debts then no, they may not house you
To be offered temporary accommodation they obviously believe you fit that criteria.0 -

It's not for an infinite length of time. They don't wait forever for you to find somewhere.nay99999 said:

If you are deemed to have made yourself intentionally homeless then no they don't have to house you.
You will need to find a private let o a roomshare
Some would say if you have gambled your wages the last few months and chosen not to pay your rent then that's intentional.

temporary accommodation is provided whilst looking into your situation. if found to be homeless you need to be in priority need and not intentionallly homeless. check Shelter.0

bare in mind housing you will not always be done in a timely manner. Some people can be in temporary accommodation for years, obviously having a baby will increase your chances of getting more permanent housing.
However it depends on how they view your gambling, because if you gamble your wages, what are the chances you can pay social housing rent? Actions are louder than words/reassurances"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

You are "unintentionally homeless" but gamble your wages away, even if you did end say £5000 a month but gambled it all so you couldn't pay rent, that doesn't make you "unintentionally homeless".You realise that a council or housing association flat/ house that you have to pay rent even if that is using housing benefit, so if you have a history of spending all your money on non-essentials shall we say, then if will have a detrimental impact on your chance of getting a property. Rightly so as well, they'll probably at minimum try to get any benefits that cover the rent paid directly to themselves. Most working people can afford a room in a house share, it might be a bit rubbish, but that is how most people start out.1
