I'm probably being pedantic here and maybe in the minority, but why would you park in an electric car bay when you're not driving or charging an electric car? Some (not all) operators charge for charging a vehicle and by parking and not charging, the legitimate operators (oxymoron maybe!) are being deprived of income.

It's really not a lot different to parking in a disabled parking bay or a parent and child bay - we all know that these bays are there for a reason (even if you don't agree with them) and if you're foolish enough to park there without a valid reason (or permit) then you're inviting trouble.

Just as genuine disabled drivers get annoyed when they see clearly non-disabled drivers parking in disabled bays, EV & PHEV drivers do likewise when they are unable to charge and see non-EV & PHEV vehicles using EV & PHEV spaces.

It didn't appear to be working and I would never park in a disabled bay. Really nowhere as bad as that


Also disabled bays clearly state that you would be fined not that I would ever be that selfish

Working or not , in use or not , neither is relevant , Neither Popla or any court judge wouldn't give those arguments any creedence whatsoever ll

Old Trafford football ground is not in use today , doesn't allow me to use the facilities or parking spots , the queen may be in Balmoral , doesnt allow me to park on the frontal area just because the gates are open !!

We could debate this forever , but without finding a legal technicality other than the above , the defendant will lose , at Popla or in court

It was a foolish action and these are the consequences
