Bloody @rse! The talk of car tax made me remember mine was due soon, so I went out to look at the disc which funnily enough is on the car I drive every single bloody day, only to find it ran out on 30/11 oops. So, I['ve just spent the last hour trying to find the reminder thing which has the code on to tax the thing, only, of course me being me, I can't find it.

AAGGHH why can't I be one of those organised people who have diaries with more than scrawlings from rushed telephone calls in. Now I have to go to the post office and queue up and fill in forms. Note to Toto, car tax things go in car tax folder not in the god knows where (that I'll find the instant I am looking for birthday candles or something else I can't find when I need it).

Hi all, just back from meeting my friend for lunch - went to her house. Didn't realise it would be so far, I have just done a round trip of 110 miles to get there:eek: !!! Still it was good to get out and go somewhere a bit different. We're going to meet up half way next time.

Some good news, I complained to the Halifax a couple of months ago because they made our joint account into a sole one (in my name) without our consent. Today I recieved a 2 page letter of apology and told they have given us £50 as compensation - I checked our accont and they have changed it back to a joint a/c and the £50 is in there too. Sure pays to complain!!:T Guess that will pay for todays petrol:o

A "Thanks" is plenty, ta Toto!

I spent 25 minutes in our town centre PO the other day...was Ok in the nice big old building with lots of space to queue - now it's in WH Smith's basement....
  • anyone know anything about hmrc forms and becoming self employed? i am stuck
  • Hi Pap - I think you are classed as having small earnings. If you are going to earn less than £4465 this financial year in just your self employed earnings (and a fairly similar limit next financial year) then you are classed as having small earnings. It also means you get a certificate of exemption from paying extra NI contributions.

Ihad a certificate last year when I first started AQA on top of my full time job.

I gave the self employed helpline a ring - they were fab and I did it all on the phone.

Bit of a caveat here - I'm not the most experienced in self employed stuff but I think i'm talking sense!!

Greenwich girl just think what it would have meant earlier in the year - you'd still have the debt, probably added to it with the hols and again to get the boiler fixed so you would be a lot worse off. you'll get there and maybe it'll reduce the heating bills...
