Ultrafast broadband - hey broadband

Anyone heard of or use hey broadband (hey broadband.co.uk) had a salesperson knock and they are offering ultrafast broadband (1000mb) for £25 per month and don’t have to pay until out of contract with our provider. We have seen vans about but don’t know much about them? Too good to be true?

That bit doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. If you're currently in contract with someone else then you'll either have to see through that contract or you'll have to break the contract with probably a fee to pay and then you'll start the new servive with Hey Broadband.nightsky224 said:Anyone heard of or use hey broadband (hey broadband.co.uk) had a salesperson knock and they are offering ultrafast broadband (1000mb) for £25 per month and don’t have to pay until out of contract with our provider. Are they saying that if you have a contract that expires in 6 months time, take the Hey service now but you wont pay Hey for the first 6 months.0

There have been offers from other ISPs that effectively offer to ‘pay’ the ETC to your old ISP as an incentive to join ( usually there is an upper cost limit ) that would be a more costly customer acquisition policy than what you have been offered by HB, and TBH , this ‘offer’ is relatively risk free to Hey Broadband , they get to cable your property when they have a large workforce available when they first hit an area, and when your current ‘contract’ expires you join them , the ‘connection’ work is already done ( so it’s cost them nothing extra, simply delays by a few months some income ) , and even if you don’t join ( it’s unclear if this deal commits you to take service ) they have an ‘asset’ in the ground , that even if you don’t use, the next occupant of the property may.
Is it too good to be true ?, No, but that’s because it’s not actually costing them anything and therefore ( in that respect ) not that ‘good’ , Openreach and VM both install ‘services’ into property’s ( new builds ) without knowing if the owner of the property will use it, this isn’t really any different, and if they make you sign up ( just with a delay until your current ISP contract expires ) is worse l obviously I’m not talking about the ongoing cost ( £25/month ) just the initial connection ‘offer’,
If the deal is ( for example ) you had 6 months left on your current ISP contract and they basically give you 6 months ‘free’ with HB ( so basically you have 2 services running at the same time ) and the £25 starts after 6 months , then it good , just not unbelievably good.0 -
BT used to offer to pay off your existing ISP contract after joining them. You simply emailed a certain BT dept with your final bill and they gave you a bill credit for any contract termination fee.0

He was trying to be clever to suggest your quoted speed of "1000mb" refers to 1000 millibits, which of course is a complete fail on his part. We all know what you meant, but in future to refer to speed it should be in Mb/s or Mbps.nightsky224 said:

I've had their gigabit service since March. They are an AltNet who own their own infrastructure and deploy via Openreach's Poles and Ducts. They are nothing to do with any Openreach service or reseller (Plusnet, BT etc). They run their own fibre direct to your property.nightsky224 said:Anyone heard of or use hey broadband (hey broadband.co.uk) had a salesperson knock and they are offering ultrafast broadband (1000mb) for £25 per month and don’t have to pay until out of contract with our provider.
