    Apart = not with
    A part = with

    But then yo ucan say that it should be
    Apart from
    and A part of
    so the thread title is ambiguous
    Well, it's been an amazing journey of discovery through this lengthy thread. Maybe someone might soon start a thread asking:
    What is 1 + 1?
    and we can enjoy days debating all the alternative arithmetic and grammatical possible answers to this highly sophisticated and challenging question...ha, ha ha!
    Surely the only possible answers to the question in the thread title are yes or no.

    Yes, and the only correct answer is an emphatic "Yes"; however the answer to the implied question is "no", so a longer, more explanatory answer is needed.

    I would recommend the Esk Bank with the thoroughly decent Eskbanker at its helm

    Is the Esk Bank part of Halifax or part of RBS?
    Personally I prefer the South Bank.
    Glad to see you are keeping us honest and bringing the thread back on topic.

    But as a parting thought, my preference is for La Rive Gauche.

    No, it's fiercely and proudly independent, although has operated under the name of the Bank of Mum and Dad, depleting its capital reserves considerably before its customers moved into alternative premises and increasingly went contactless ;)
