But seriously it is worth adding!Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'3 -
If its not raised within the first 2 pages of posts you will have failed in your duty to homeowners everywhereJeepers_Creepers said:And if you haven't done so, add LP to your house insurance.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.4 -
I guess no one in this thread has ever struggled to get a baby off to sleep? All they asked was for you to keep the noise down during nap time (which will soon be a goner anyway, as the child's nearly old enough not to need afternoon naps). But what do you do? You get the drill out and drill holes. You get the vacuum cleaner out on an uncarpeted floor and bang it about. Exactly at the time you know your neighbours are trying to get the baby to sleep. How many more times over the past 18 months have you disrupted them?
I'm not surprised they yelled at you.
Learn to be a good neighbour. If you know someone needs quiet at a certain time, then try to be quiet. Don't get the black and decker out and start drilling! And you know what? If you start being a decent neighbour, they'll be better minded to be kind to you when you need it. Like, for example, when that baby gets older and decides to throw tennis balls against the wall adjoining yours for hours on end.0 -

And if you start off by being a doormat, they'll walk all over you! (From me, who was a doormat for several years and now know the people next door would never ever be kind. EVER)kdotdotdotdot said:If you start being a decent neighbour, they'll be better minded to be kind to you when you need it.2 -
If the OP really wants to wind them up he could plug the vacuum into a timer so it goes for a few minutes when he isn't at the property and then stops. Repeat a few times a day and the neighbour will start to doubt their own sanity.

So that gives him the right to kick my door and swear aggressively at me. And I have made a concerted effort to be quiet at those times. I was unaware on this occasion. There is no way I would have kicked his door or spoken to him like that or said his partner was "full of s***t" like he did to mine,no matter how frustrated I was. You're asking me to be a good neighbour after all that?kdotdotdotdot said:I guess no one in this thread has ever struggled to get a baby off to sleep?
