Moving toilet in bathroom

My first house had the 'over stairs cupboard' in a bedroom so its not that weird / unusual to be honest. Certainly no weirder than a 'wardrobe' in a bathroom.ashe said:
Could be done I suppose but then we have a weird cupboard door in the study (which has only freshly been decorated).Niv said:
I meant change the door of the cupboard to open into what looks like your study.ashe said:
Yes that wouldn’t work, this shows it from the other side and the slope is above floor height and probably not intended to hold peopleDoozergirl said:
I did think of it, but when I asked what was there, the OP said that there is a bulkhead there for the stairs. Would have been ideal, but not to be.Niv said:I don't think anyone has mentioned this as an option but what about changing the opening to the 'wardrobe' to instead open into the bedroom and block up the doorway in the bathroom. That way you win back a wall to play with (possibly move the bath perhaps) but also keep the storage space as it will be accessible from the other room.
The boiler pipes would need rerouting as they go straight down middle of where the opening would be. Just measured quickly and from doorframe to the wall that way on is only1619mm so bath would overshoot the doorframe quite a lot
could get a smaller bath but am already sacrifice on having a shower in the room as gf has heart set on freestanding bath, so don’t want to lose shower and have a tiny bath
In any case, it was just a thought to give you options in the bathroom and if the bath doesn't fit there then maybe its not a goer anyway - just thought it was worth throwing it in the mix as i have had situations where i have done something and once finished some says why didnt you just do x by which time the work is done so its too late.YNWA

Appreciate the suggestions! I think bath at an angle will create a dead space Triangle in the Corner and as it’s not the biggest room, I’d ideally like to avoid that.NSG666 said:Other suggestions in the mix:
Cupboard door into the landing?
Put the bath on an angle?
Move the towel rad to the opposite end of the bath or the wall opposite the bath?I think we are going to try draw put a plan with the alcove sink as first choice and having sink on the en-suite wall as second choice and cost up feasibility of both with the builder0 -
As a quick update to this post, this is what we ended up doing. We've definitely lost some floorspace, but its much more usable.Doozergirl said:The very simplest way would be to move the toilet to under the window and use the wall to the left for your sink and mirror.I would have ideas for utilising the 'wardrobe' space but if it's got the tank in it, for example, it's a no-go.But knowing the direction of the joists is essential to establish how you would get a freestanding bath in with the waste. You can't do this once you've got people on site. It needs to be properly planned.
we opted for a 800mm sink along the left hand wall with a 600mm illuminated mirror with a 2 pin plug inside it.
For the toilet we went with a RAK wall hung one and the builder built boxing up along from where the internal stench pipe is until where the toilet frame ended, and the bath along the right hand wall. 6 spots in the ceiling, tiled floor and walls and put a ducted extractor fan in the ceiling.
We had some issues as the walls in the house ended up being Strammit boards, so made of compressed straw. Channelling out enough space for a backbox filled about 3 large black sacks, very odd material.
Installer had covid so its not yet finished but should be done in 2-3 days.
There were some fun and games when one of our 18 year old bengals found their way in and ferreted themselves down the only hole in the floor
But it is starting to take shape. We definitely lost some floor space, but the bath is really big and nice to use and the larger sink (its only 200mm larger but the old one had huge bevels around the edge) makes a big difference. Looking forward to seeing it all without half a building site in it.
