I don't think it is the case. I've started a new thread so information doesn't get buried in the bickering from some parties on this very long thread!

Do you agree with that, xylophone?Question do I absolutely need an IFA to agree for the transfer as an insistent client into the Stakeholder?

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
If i was looking now, I'd used PensionBee I think
Not if you were an "insistent client".

Where you are required to receive advice, PensionBee will only be able to accept the transfer if the IFA has advised that the transfer should proceed.

Pleased to report that the transfer of our DB pension on an insistent client basis has completed and funds transferred. Went right down to the wire on 3 month CETV deadline. Ended up having to pay for two lots of DB transfer advice, as the UK IFA willing to facilitate the transfer needed to use his own Pension Transfer Specialist to satisfy his companies professional indemnity insurance. Also involved an overseas FA to find us the UK contact in the first place.
In summary - Horrific, drawn out and expensive process. Must have made in excess of 150 phone calls to find someone that could help, but didn't give up and got what we wanted in the end.
Thankful that both of our DB pensions are now transferred and will never need to go through this again.
