Anyone else just really tired all the time!?

Options
Bit of a different question to what normally gets asked on here but it is relevant. I know moving house is supposed to be one of the most stressful things you can do but does anyone else feel really tired and lethargic when going through the process?

I don’t feel particularly ‘stressed’ but everything just seems to be about constantly waiting. The excitement of getting your offer accepted and feeling the motivation and energy to want to get cracking and now whilst going through the formalities I just feel tired ALOT of the time! I feel like I’m being held back waiting for the green light and I’m finding it really exhausting, even when I’ve barely done anything that day and when there’s been nothing house related.

Please tell me I’m not the only one, I’m guessing it’s just the mental tiredness manifesting physically.

Stress makes me very tired. It's like my shut down safety mechanism. My brain goes into cruise control.

you're also in nomansland - in between one life and another. Lost at sea 😂😂
  • It's definitely exhausting and worse since I feel like I'm doing it to myself as I don't strictly need to move I just feel like I've just outgrown my current place. I found a place I love, on the market 18th and I was the first to view and offered straight away afterwards. It went to best and final Monday for offers by noon today to now make a decision tomorrow morning. There's nothing else come close for me so it will be disappointing to wait a week just to probably find out tomorrow I've been outbid. I was expecting to hear back today and got a lot less sleep last night thinking about it but now I've got another restless night ahead of me before knowing for sure. Whatever happens I've got two more viewings tomorrow or getting back on at my solicitors to start the work on the purchase as well, the grind continues.

You are not alone.  I hadn’t realised how much of a factor the house move was in my tiredness until we completed and I felt the weight lift of my shoulders.

I feel exactly the same as this! Well we did have a very quick, easy move as such but we have technically moved twice within a year during a pandemic and renovated the first move in the meantime so I guess we haven't really stopped in a year along with working full time, two teens & a new puppy in the mix.

But I didn't quite realise how knackered and poorly I felt until we stopped after the move. My parents don't mess around and told me just after the move exactly how ill and awful I looked lol. But I really was and it was breaking us really.

We are four weeks down the line and I'm just starting to feel better and like me and actually 'breathe' again. I've slept and slept, eaten better, taken lots of lovely walks and gone against every instinct in my body to 'keep going' and invite round every man and their dog to see the new house. In general, tried to find my feet again and I'm getting there but it really has taken it's toll. I really don't think you fully notice how 'stressed' you are until the whole process is over. Being in limboland is really far more unsettling than any of us fully realise. Many of us are wired for stability and security.
  • Yes!

I am constantly cba, Ive actually surprised myself today by packing 8 boxes, just another 82 to go.

Altho I do try and get out with the dog and clear my head but at the moment all I am seeing on the estate is moving wagons so it is hard to get away from.
  • Manage expectations and don't over think things and you'll sleep well. House selling/buying can be straightforward if you manage it well and keep emotions in check.

I've bought twice and sold once and not once did i get stressed out, I set limits on my expectations, i knew it would take between 2-6 months, the price i want may not come in and i may need to renegotiate. I did my numbers and made sure that even in the worst outcome it would still work.

The more you know the less you dont.
