I bought one of those last week to boost the Wi-Fi signal strength near my new EV charge point - it works just fine and was easy to set up (using the Tether app). I'm sure there are equivalent devices with higher network speeds if needed.

Thanks - does it plug in by the TV, or by the router ?
(Bigphil1474 suggested a similar device on with a connection at both ends)

For me I installed it near the EV charge point, so the Wi-Fi signal was strong for the charge point. If W-Fi- is weak near your TV then install it near the TV. The fact the device is passthrough means you could even plug it in where your TV plugs in, then plug the TV into the device.  

Set up was very easy using the Tether app - the instructions are clear in the paperwork that came with the device - and I gave the extended network a different network name. That way you'd be able to get a strong signal near your TV, and be sure that you were connecting the TV to the new device.  

Edit: the device itself will indicate if it is in a suitable location to be able to extend the Wi-Fi - this is all explained in the instructions. Plus, the device also has an Ethernet port, so you could even use that to plug in the TV rather than connect the TV to Wi-Fi.
