Good Afternoon
Connection/Streaming Problems on our 2nd TV
Haven't really used this TV for streaming since purchase - it's not a cheap TV, its a Toshiba Smart TV.
Tried laptop to stream programs in same room that's OK - whereas TV stalls every 5 mins.
Spoken to provider - Plusnet & they have checked & tweaked all fibre connections & assure us all are showing OK

They tell me I may benefit from one (or more) Wireless boosters plugging in in rooms where streaming signal is failing - (they tell me it's a simple DIY process - plug into power socket, press WPS on router to link & boost).
When check shopping sites, I find these Boosters are £20-£200 ! Which do I buy? (Mesh / Extenders / Boosters / Repeaters - what ARE these things ? do I need them ?)

Is the TV wired or wireless? If possible, can you temporarily move it and plug it directly into the router via ethernet cable and see if the problem continues? If it doesn't then you'll probably want to invest in some powerline adapters if you're unable to run wired ethernet through your home. A decent set can be a cheap as £20-50 depending if you go for a decent brand, fast speeds, etc. Some sort of wireless mesh setup might also help but if your not having issues with other devices in the same room it feels a bit overkill IMO.0

TV is wired - just plugged into mains, & wired aerial.

Think you've misunderstood. How is the TV connected to the internet? Wired (network cable) or wireless?

I'm checking & am drawn to something like this
NETGEAR WiFi Booster Range Extender | Internet Booster | WiFi Repeater| Covers up to 1200 sq ft and 20 devices | AC1200 (up to 1200 Mbps) | (EX6120) : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
unless it's rubbish ?
it seems simple to connect, no password changes...

Does your TV have an ethernet port, if so I'd strongly recommend powerline adapters. Something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/TL-PA4010PKIT-Passthrough-Powerline-Configuration-Required/dp/B01G5Q9E0O/ref=sr_1_3 so you don't lose a socket.1

Would I run these to the TV with cables, or would my wi-fi still be wireless?neilmcl said:Does your TV have an ethernet port, if so I'd strongly recommend powerline adapters. Is the TV seeing your network?

Cable, which is why I asked if your TV had an ethernet/network socket. Essentially you place one of the plugs next to your router and connect to the router via a cable then the other one in the socket near your TV and connect the same. Your Wifi will remain unaffected.onesixfive said:
