    Most dashcams are discreet.
How come I can always see them in other cars then?

You need to look-up the difference between discreet and invisible.

My one sits behind the rear view mirror.  I literally can't see it.  My passenger might be able to see it but I don't see that as an issue.

The important factor, and I'm sure one that the OP may be interested in as they want to leave the dashcam permanently in place is just how "discreet" they are to the outside world. As I said, a lot are not that much.

I guess that's a matter of opinon, because mine are incredibly discreet.

But the OP seems to have disappeared, so this is all just a pointless discussion.

I made mine discreet by covering it with black duct tape and some black tissue paper to blur the edges and it's now virtually impossible to spot.

The OP has gone.  There's no point in discussing this!

It's only been a couple of days since the OP posted. If you have a dashcam that you think is discreet then by all means give them a recommendation.

They didn't want a discreet dashcam.  They specifically asked for recommendations of discrete dashcams.  But they haven't yet replied to my first post in this thread asking them to clarify what they mean.  If/when the OP comes back, I'll be happy to offer them my opinion.

You're certainly determined they may have meant a word no one actually uses, aren't you.
Shall we have a small wager they actually meant discreet all along?

I use both "discrete" and "discreet" with similar frequency and both could be applicable in this case:
    • "Discrete" = front and rear dashcams independent of each other
    • "Discreet" = unobtrusive
Indeed, the OP may have wanted discreet discrete front & rear dashcams.

We should not assume the OP wanted anything other than that which was written.  In the context, "discrete" would be at least as viable the intended choice of word, if not more so, as "discreet"

Obviously a dashcam that is too discreet will fail to achieve the normally desired function of a dashcam:

I do not understand why some choose to assume the average person has a similarly low command of the English language as this:

Given not many people know the word discrete even exists
I think it may well be found that the knowledge and use of the word "discrete" is far more widespread than some might imagine.  Not everyone is equally ignorant.
